Only in Philadelphia

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Jawn is basically a word that can make reference to anything... your wife, your dinner, your magazine, your hairbrush, etc.

Where's my jawn?

What did you do with my jawn?

Look at this jawn.

Why'd you drink my jawn?

Pass that jawn, I'm hungry.

Tie your jawn or you're gonna trip.

Etc.
If you don't run you rust

Who wouldn't want to move to Philly after reading this?
Apparently, you need to send me some Krimpets.

Oh, and your cat is controlling your brain.
Come to Chicago, and I will smuggle you some Krimpets. I will also show you the proper way to open them. ;)

And Cooley James is the current controller of all of Philadelphia.

Right on Philly
The Nicest Philly Has Ever Been: Pope Francis Visits the Birthplace of America

Image

PHILADELPHIA—A sign flashed over the NJ Turnpike as I made my way to Philadelphia early Friday morning: “POPE IN PHILLY THIS WEEKEND — PLAN AHEAD.” Indeed—Pope in Philly that weekend, and we ought to plan ahead.

Philadelphia, the unhinged-but-lovable little brother of the major north-eastern cities, was, to some, an unlikely host for the 2015 World Meeting of Families. Prior host cities include Rome, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, and, well, nowhere quite like Philadelphia. Philly. Filthy. Philly. But if Philadelphia is a problem child, unable to control his temper, dress appropriately for the occasion, or refrain from hanging racist signs in the windows of his cheesesteak shops, he’s also a proud, wily brat who’s certainly not going to give you the satisfaction of fucking up while you’ve got your eye on him. So Philadelphia planned ahead.

great (rare) pro-Philly article, Clams.

My favorite part:
Though it didn’t seem like too many people cared about what was going on on a stage they could barely see, the vibe was remarkably positive.

Sportscenter just showed a crazy stat: in the calendar year of 2015, all 4 Philadelphia pro sports teams have winning percentages BELOW .400: Flyers .397, Phillies .389, Eagles .364, and 76ers .203. Ouch! They showed this in honor of the 76ers' 27th consecutive loss, the longest such streak in U.S. pro sports history

Sad days, indeed, when the Phillies have the best winning percentage of the 4 Philly franchises:

The Mummers Parade is a 100+ year old Philly new years day tradition where guys (some women too but mostly men) dress up in costumes that range from plain old clown suits to ridiculously fancy feathered outfits and they dance and play music as they march their way through down Broad Street. It has evolved over the years but it still goes from morning to night and basically shuts down Philly's center city on new years day. The clown and fancy divisions go first and are followed by the string bands who each have a theme and perform these intricate show songs at intersections along Broad Street. Each division is judged and there are winners. A lot of time and money and pride goes into the costumes and performances. It's truly a spectacle, definitely a bucket list thing to see - as long as you can handle the cold weather, the crowds and the drunks (lots of drunks - performers and spectators alike).

If you don't run you rust
