Yep, pretty much. I could go into a whole thing just about the NHL and their 'pc police' programs but then again it is hitting all the 4 major sports. Anyway, this is just sickening.Howlinwolf wrote:PC police are at it again -

Re: Only in Philadelphia
The complaints against Kate Smith are overblown, but I'm glad to see it any time that sucky song gets retired--which didn't happen! They're playing a different recording. What a waste of a good controversy. They could've substituted America the Beautiful or This Land Is Your Land or, well, almost anything.211poundsofpork wrote:Yep, pretty much. The sooner we put those assholes in the grave&piss on the dirt above it, the better off we'll be
Re: Only in Philadelphia
FWIW, Francis Scott Key was a slave owner. Perhaps that needs to be pointed out to all major sport franchise owners and execs.
Now it's dark.
Re: Only in Philadelphia
And while I'm soap-boxing, why the fuck is the National Anthem/God Bless America/etc played before/during sporting events anyway. I'm there to see the action - just start the fucking game!
Now it's dark.

Sign o' the times. I'm going to try to get people at my church to sing The Battle Hymn of the Republic next month.

Howlinwolf, you know I love you man but why are you always trolling my hometown? Were you once jilted by a Philly girl? Did your car get towed on Broad Street back in the 90s? What is it brother? Please tell me because your pain is showing thru and I'd like to help.

Re: Only in Philadelphia
I’m pretty sure they started singing the anthem before sporting events as a military recruitment tool. I don’t think the Donald ever stood up for it back when he owned a USFL team. Sorry to point out that kinda hypocricy——-low hanging fruit ya know.

Hat's off to Philly's radio station WXPN 88.5 fm. Next weekend to celebrate Woodstock 50, the station will broadcast the whole festival in order of bands etc. Should be pretty cool.

Mascot wars

Gritty's a rascal and I do love his crazy eyes but any self-respecting Philadelphian (an oxymoron?) would choose the Phanatic.
Also, has anyone ever seen "Drexel junior Armon Owlia" and Howlinwolf in the same place at the same time? I bet not.

Watching some Capitals hockey and just noticed Wawa signage on the boards. I had absolutely no idea Wawa had stores that far south (relative to PA & NJ).

Based around Philly but In the mid Atlantic region Wawa goes down through Maryland to Virginia. I think they also have stores in Florida. I know they have a sponsorship deal with the Baltimore Ravens, I guess with the Caps too.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:Watching some Capitals hockey and just noticed Wawa signage on the boards.
