Only in Philadelphia

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Ha! - no Clams. I actually love your city and always had a great time when ever I went for a rock show or work. The historical nature of Philly is simply amazing. and for the record, Philly girls are awesome! ;)

PS - I should start a Only in New York City thread, ala The City of Hate, but so much shit goes down in Gotham I could not keep up!

If you told me that story and asked me to guess the umpire, I would have said Cowboy Joe West. That guy is a douche who has hated the Phillies for years. He actually dislikes Philly even more than you you do, Howlinwolf.

Philly Police Are Saving Lives by Taking Shooting Victims to the Hospital Without Waiting for Paramedics
Doctors say the faster these patients can get to a trauma center, the better their chances at survival.

“Philadelphia is unique. The police have definitely taken ownership of getting patients to us as quickly as possible,” he adds.
That's pretty great, isn't it? But I will admit this sentence left a sour taste, for two reasons:
Officials say that even when a Philadelphia police officer shoots a civilian, another officer will scoop them.
First, police officers are civilians. They aren't the military. That sort of deliberately lying pig language is designed to desensitize us to things like how

Second, it carries the implication that unfortunate enough to get shot by a cop--say, that black security guard killed while detaining an attempted mass shooter--is someone to whom "even them" applies, someone lesser, someone who should be grateful not to be left for dead like a dog in the street.

Sounds like it has been fully disclosed that the homeless vet was in on the hoax

https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/15/us/coupl ... index.html

"The paying-it-forward story that drove this fundraiser might seem too good to be true," Coffina said at a press conference. "Unfortunately, it was. The entire campaign was predicated on a lie."

Especially since it appears they started out meaning well. That puts the sting into it. If they were just scamsters, it wouldn't have much heft to it. But that they started out telling one small lie in order to do something good and will end up in prison for stealing half a million--that verges on tragedy.

The magical pull of Wawa: from the Upper Darby Police Twitter-feed (Upper Darby is right outside Philly, home of the Tower Theater):
Disorderly male arrested late night for acting disorderly in a Wawa. Upon being released from custody the next day, he steals a car which was left running and unoccupied. He's apprehended a second time and tells police he was trying to get back to Wawa.

i read everything on 3dd. i don't always remember it, but i read it.

nola was a stud here at catholic high and lsu. everybody's all-american. always a bit of a slow starter, but once he got thru the 1st inning and settled in, he was just about unhittable for the next 90 pitches. keeps the ball down and tremendous at working the edges.
