What's Everyone Drinking?

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Not sure if this is some kind of New Englander sacrilege, but I like Focal Banger better than Heady Topper.

Both great beers, but it's more my thing.

I wouldn't call it sacrilege. I'm more of a Heady Topper guy myself, but the Banger lovers are aplenty.

It's a random stock photo.

I was at Tree House a few Mondays ago and dropped close to $500 on beer and gear. Great place!

Last night I had a Rock On Craft Lager from Goat Island Brewery in Cullman, Alabama. I picked up the can when I was down at the Gulf over Thanksgiving. The can has a cool design which inspired my purchase. I’d post a picture of the can but don’t possess the tech know how to do so!

I’ve also been enjoying some egg nog. My wife lovingly makes my family’s recipe for me this time of year. As many of you know, I grew up in Beaverdam, Va (rural northwest corner of Hanover County). I was a volunteer fire department member, and my dad and uncle still are. Since around 2000 all fire department buildings are county owned, but years ago this was not a case. The “old building” had a liquor cabinet which was opened once per year for the Fire Department Christmas Party. An older gentleman on the fire department would also make egg nog. Neither of my parents are big drinkers, but my mom loved the egg nog so much the guy taught my dad how to make it. I remember tasting the egg nog as a kid and maybe even high school age and finding it repulsive, but I love it now, although no cardiologist would ever recommend. I once read an article or piece that compared egg nog to “melted ice cream with booze,” and I agree!

I took some egg nog to some friends here (southwest Tennessee), and the woman called me her “Northern friend;” she explained that southerners drink egg custard or boiled custard which I’ve always heard of but never tasted. The egg nog is hard to beat, at least in my book!

Happy New Year!

Rum or bourbon?

Bourbon. My parents always use bourbon, and if they used rum, I would have probably never developed my affinity for egg nog.

I like bourbon, and gin, and vodka, but I have never developed a taste for rum and pretty much despise it.

I fell out of love with rum after a night of drinking Bacardi 151. Is that shit still available?

OJ, Metamucil & weed infused lemonade. Kind of tastes like Tang. Those of us of a certain vintage will remember Tang. It's what the astronauts drink!
I think a good song could be found here called "Metamucil & Marijuana". I'm waiting for Mick & Keith to call me about putting it on the new Stones record.

While I don't recommend actually trying it, I think "meth & metamucil" has a better ring to it.

So I love egg nog and have a whole batch old family recipe that my wife makes for me at Christmas. I begged Christina not to make a whole batch this year due to the load of fat, sugar, cholesterol in it.

Does anyone have a good single serving egg nog recipe???

People always talk about “boiled custard” down here, but from my part of VA eggnog is a delicacy!

That's a shame. I was paying close attention to their union organizing push a few years ago.

My go-to:

RecreationAle is sometimes hard to find in Birmingham, but the Homewood Piggly Wiggly currently has it. Good summer session beer: Low cal, low ABV, good taste and not too expensive.
Let the outside air in

Once every hundred thousand years or so
When the sun doth shine
And the moon doth glow and the grass doth grow
Needless to say,
The beast was stunned.
Whip-crack went his whippy tail,
And the beast was done.
He asked us,
Be you angels?
And we said nay,
We are but men,
Rock!
