What's Everyone Drinking?

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

I don't know what Cortez's situation is like but that stuff is damned hard to get a hold of around here. Cheers.

Sounds like Lawson's is working with a brewery in his area that has larger capacity to brew and distribute a higher volume.

It was as good as previous Sip of Sunshines that I've had, so this is working out better than when Toppling Goliath stated making beer in Florida via BrewHub.

Sip of Sunshine now being brewed out of Two Roads here in Connecticut. It used to be super rare, but is now just somewhat rare. I like it, but this it is a bit overrated/overhyped. A number of people say it's comparable to Heady Topper, but I couldn't disagree more.

Agree with your disagree. It's good, but its the scarcity that drives everyone wild. My local shop gets an erratic supply of it - even few weeks they get a few dozen cases. They don't even bother to stock it on the shelf but just leave the pallet sitting there. The beer nerds pick it clean in a few hours.

Think the closest thing to Heady Topper I've had recently is 14th Star's Tribute. Can be found pretty much anywhere in VT.

I've had my share of Heady, thanks to when my wife worked at TG, and honestly I don't quite get the hype. I think it's a great beer, don't get me wrong, but I've had Tree House and Trillium beers I liked just as much, as well as a lot of the hoppy beers coming out of the Midwest.

I think the thing with Heady is a combination of being ahead of their time (Alchemist was one of the first breweries making this kind of beer), and the scarcity. The fact that people had to trek into a remote part of Vermont to get it adds to the lore. TG has exploited a similar remoteness/scarcity as well.

We're out of the field, so it's a brewing night tonight.

On deck for the brewing process:

And probably some Iowa Water (Busch Light), once my palate is shot.

Not really into all them there crafp beers but I got a 6er of New Orleans's original craft beer, Dixie, on the way home and I'm quite surprized at how much I'm enjoying it.

In my adult life (because my friend had no mixers), I've "enjoyed" bourbon and Tang, and bourbon with store-bought pre-bottled tea with an artificial sweetener. I'd recommend Tang if those are your choices.

Backpacking, my drink of choice is either Wild Turkey 101 and powdered Hawaiian Punch or Dickel and punch. The liquor choice depends on number of days on the trail----higher proof is spread over a longer number of days to reduce ounce per buzz (it's all about pack weight). A single nighter is always Dickel. In the old days, powdered lemonade was the mixer on the trail, but I've found it brings heartburn when paired with backpacking food.

On the flip side of all this, my stepdaughter once was at my house and wanted to mix Hennessy with Diet Mtn Dew. I told her she was welcome to my cognac, but if she was wanting to mix with Diet Mtn Dew, she needed to choose something cheaper to ruin.

I spent December 31st 2006 and January 1st 2007 at the bottom of the Grand Canyon with a handle of tequila and a bag of limes.

Did not take my time to read the can while impulse buying and ended up with a 3 pack of this that I'll prob never drink. Not my thing at all.

Maybe I'll try getting one super cold and see if it's any more palatable.

Will definitely try it again. Guess I am not very well informed on all the possible variations of beer these days. Seems to be a lot of great stuff to be had out there.

Only stuff that starts with a D today.
I started off with some Dixie beer. So refreshing after laying under the truck all morning with my stethoscope while Lieske was licking my toes.
Since then I have moved on to some Dickler. And with my dinner I plan on having my favorite german beir XX amber. Now where's my Sour Diesel?
and the rest as they say is uh er uh, well somebodies history somewhere?
