I had basically forgotten about Sazeracs until I overheard BTB order one (ahem) at Homecoming this year. Damn good cocktail.

I probably should have posted this before the NOLA shows. One of my favorite things to do in NOLA is the cocktail tour. I've done it probably four or five times but each time with Joe Gendusa who is mentioned in this article. Mr Joe takes participants to historic bars, in their back rooms where most folks can't visit, and let's then try signature cocktails. I got the history of the sazaerac on this tour.RolanK wrote:The short film version hereMarkalanbishop wrote:I had basically forgotten about Sazeracs until I overheard BTB order one (ahem) at Homecoming this year. Next time you're in NOLA go on the cocktail tour but request Joe Gendusa as your tour guide.

Allways wanted to go to NOLA. Definitely on my list. Hopefully some day. Thanks for the advice.Beaverdam wrote:I probably should have posted this before the NOLA shows. Heineken now owns 100% of Lagunitas. They had purchased half a few years back

True, but they were a regional craft brewer that AB bought, so they make the list. I haven't had it in years but I recall not hating the Matildatinnitus photography wrote:Goose Island is terrible.

Bourbon County isn't. Their farmhouse beers (Lolita) are still good as well.tinnitus photography wrote:Goose Island is terrible.
They've never made a good IPA though.
Re: What's Everyone Drinking?
That sucks, but at the same time, I love having Lagunitas available, fresh, all the time.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:Heineken now owns 100% of Lagunitas. They had purchased half a few years back

Was never a big fan overall. To me, their beer is solid but not great. In these parts there are a plethora of better choices. Unfortunately they have a huge presence at Bay Area music venues and ball parksIowan wrote:That sucks, but at the same time, I love having Lagunitas available, fresh, all the time.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:Heineken now owns 100% of Lagunitas. it's funny... the progression of really good beer over the last couple of decades is something like this:
Sam Adams/Sierra Nevada > Harpoon/Smuttynose/Rogue > Dogfish/Lagunitas > Trillium/Tree House/Grimm/etc

i had west coast beers in each of the categories aside from the last one... if there's a West Coast brewery that's as good as trill/TH/grimm, clue me in! or better yet, send some. i've heard good things about monkish but you can't get that shit here. hell, i've never even had Bissell yet.
oh, i'll add Hill Farmstead to the list too. they are amazingly good.

Re: What's Everyone Drinking?
we don't get those beers here, so other than one Treehouse from a friend I have had none. I haven't been to RI in 7 years so last time I was there I didn't encounter any of those, alas........tinnitus photography wrote:if there's a West Coast brewery that's as good as trill/TH/grimm, clue me in! or better yet, send some.

It's not even close to the best beer in my backyard. But for the price point, it's quite nice.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:Was never a big fan overall. To me, their beer is solid but not great.
