What's Everyone Drinking?

Best beers I tried were Avancé from Allagash, Hunahpu from Cigar City, Aestas from Odd Side Ales, Mexican Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout from Belching Beaver, and Día de los Mangos from Beachwood Blendery.

Didn't have it at the festival itself, but The Rare Barrel's Supermassive blew my mind a little bit, too. Denver becomes an absurd beer playground each fall.
Rare Barrel rules. We belong to their club, currently have 7-8 of their offerings on hand
I still dream about Ensorcelled. Got a chance to try Supermassive, Bellatrix, and Home Sour Home at a tap takeover earlier in the week and found a bottle of Shadows of Their Eyes at a local bottle shop with all the GABF goodies.

Definitely making RB and Fieldwork pilgrimages next time I find an excuse to visit the Bay Area.

done both on the same day, it's an easy and most pleasurable task. Just make sure you are around on one of the days RB is actually open

Back in the day when I was first learning about good whiskey, the mantra was of course "single malt." But somewhere along the line someone I trusted recommended a very expensive (even by comparison to the well known single malts) blended scotch whiskey, so I had to try it. It came in this really neat and distinctive ceramic or pottery "bottle" and it had an unpronounceable name: Usquebach. Adding to the mystique, it was very hard to find. It was among my favorites, very smooth w/ complex flavors and a rare treat because as I say it was more expensive than even the usual 12 year old single malt suspects. Unfortunately first the price got too high and then I could no longer find it anywhere so I haven't even had a taste in a number of years. But lo and behold, there it was on the shelf at the liquor store a couple of weeks ago, although it now comes in a more standard glass bottle.

It is as good as I remembered and while still expensive, many of the others have come a lot closer so while not exactly a steal, it's not so guilt inducing either. Sipping some now*. Mmmmm mmmmm good. Highly, highly recommended, especially if you can find it somewhere where you can just have a taste or glass rather than having to spring for the whole bottle.

And it follows a delicious steak dinner accompanied by a really nice 2008 Barolo. As Monday nites go, this one rates pretty high :)

Like most good scotch, it goes very well w/ whiskey stones which provide a little chill for added "drinkability" w/out diluting the beverage. Whiskey stones are one of life's overlooked great inventions.

just released yesterday. Went to the pub last night and had several. It's become a ritual to go for pints the first day it's tapped, always a great day that I look forward to

A Wisconsin man got locked in a walk-in beer cooler. He had ‘everything that he needed,’ police say.

I once tried to rent out the walk in beer cooler at Whole Foods for a camping trip. My request was denied. Assholes.

Plus, Great Lakes is pretty reasonably priced around here. A sixer usually goes for under $10. Always an added bonus.

I grabbed a 30 rack for $10.99 a few weeks back. Still working my way through it. I'm not above this, not one bit.

Had some of these during the Vikes/Saints game Sunday:

My mother in law got me a set of Moscow Mule glasses for Christmas. I was a little skeptical, but I really like the drink and am sure that I will even more in the summer (hot weather). I'd never tasted ginger beer before (one of the ingredients), and it is very unique.

Mules are great in summer and so easy to make. Some of those ginger beers have over 5% abv so once you add the vodka you have a pretty potent cocktail. Good stuff indeed.
