1. Our Princess is leaving for college (on Fn' Sunday!!! she has to be delivered to the dorm), but the favorite about this is, not her leaving, but Junior now wants to go back to college for Mechanical Engineering!!!!

3. all but one kitten remains and well Bear seems to be staying so we have 3 now, Pickles, Freckles and Bear

1. Turning 50 earlier this week wasn't nearly as bad as I thought (at least so far)
2. Surprise birthday dinner parties rule and helped ease me into the big 5-0
3. Big seafood feast coming up this weekend at the coast with family and friends where we're planning on steaming up some fresh blue crabs for the first time since my Mom passed back in '99. That used to be tradition for many years at our family cottage so I'm looking very forward to reviving it and celebrating my birthday with my coastal friends on Saturday.
4. Catching up with old friends and finally seeing some musicians/bands in concert that I've been hearing about for years
5. Life and life only

1. Seeing #1 son (and g/f), spending 4 days together and getting a feel for their their new home environment.

2. Having #1 son's kinda sorta boss/mentor seek us out specifically to tell us that the boy is "extraordinary" and "classy."

3. Me, wife, #1 son & g/f at the movies, watching Celeste and Jesse Forever and the electric thrill that went through us when #2 son suddenly popped up on the big screen, bigger than life, all by himself, in slow motion no less. It was only a second, maybe 3 if u add in the 2 glimpses of the back of his head, but hot damn that was seriously freakin' ALSUM!!!

4. Experiencing the passion and pageantry of semi big time college football and seeing what was presumably a record tying event when some RB from S. Dakota State ran 99.5 yards from scrimmage for a TD.

5. Oklahoma Joe's, Arthur Bryant's and what was probably the best lasagna I've tasted since I was in Tuscany about a decade or more ago. No, no, the lasagna was at a third place, in Lawrence. Oklahoma Joe's is totally amazing, almost enough by itself to get me to move to KC.

Happy big 5-0 in advance. The seafood feast was great but it didn't have a damn thing on the surprise dinner party some of my friends threw for me last week. That was the absolute best.

5. Calm is slowly being restored now that the excitment, anxiety and what not about leaving home for the first has passed, albeit dad seems rather heart broken but yet proud at the same time. When he went to leave, she asked him if he could stay she would sleep on the floor of her dorm room and they could have one more breakfast together.

now onto Jr and getting his buttock back in school in time for the January semster!!!! yeee haa more paperwork!!!!

The bad news: one of my co-workers/friend's house burned down - and electrical fire started in the garage and he and his family lost everything in the house plus their cars.

They didn't lose their lives.
They didn't lose their cat's life.
Their daughters were away at school, so were completely safe.
Their insurance company is behaving decently so far.
His boss started a gofundme campaign late last week and sent it to all of us plus our clients. Our goal is to raise $20,000 for them. We're at almost $12,000 so far.

Human decency.
