This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

The Michael Schumacher situation is so sad. I used to root against him for years, but I'm rooting for him now. Doesn't sound promising though. :(

He was the best driver I have watched. He proved it every time it rained.

Does anyone else have a very bad feeling about the Olympics in Sochi? Speculation, and some proof, now points to sleeper cells that have been in Sochi since long before the security lock down. I'm no conspiracy theorist but this just feels wrong. I hope I'm mistaken.

That being said, if it does go off ok, I do look forward to the skiing, and with 10 Blackhawks going, the hockey as well.

Terrorists. Women known as "black widows". There's a serious and viable threat.

I'm not quite to the point where I think the US should pull the athletes from the competition but if there is any live threat when the games start they should pull them immediately. Fortunately there seems to be a plan in place with US Carriers stationed in the Black Sea during the games. I truly hope I'm mistaken but, again, it feels wrong.

Hindsight being 20/20, awarding Russia (in particular, Sochi) the games was incredibly stupid.

Kudos to Stanislas Wawrinka on making his first Grand Slam final. He awaits the winner of the Nadal-Federer semifinal for his opponent in the Australian Open final.

Kudos also to Li Na for making her 3rd Australian Open final and Dominika Cibulkova for making her first Grand Slam final. If Li wins it will be her first Australian Open title and second Grand Slam title. She won the French Open in 2011.

Knotted @ 1 after 2. The expanded ice surface seems to favor Russia. Would LOVE to see the boys knock off the home team in front of Putin. Great way to kick off a Saturday morning. 'Murica!

I watched Oshie play in high school. His school whooped my school's ass in the State playoffs my senior year.

Loves me some hockey starting at 6:30am. Great game today.

That being said, I just can't stand the shootout. Hockey doesn't need manufactured drama. I don't understand how you can play a game for 60min bustin' tail as a TEAM with 6 on 6, then bring it down to 5 on 5 for OT, and then we come down to one on one. I thought hockey was a team sport.

I know it's not going to go away, but the NHL playoffs have it correct. If a tie is not allowed, then keep playing the game as you did the first 60min until the red light goes on.

So, if I have to accept this format, the IIHF does have it correct in that each game is worth three points. 3pts for a straight up win, 2 for an OT/shootout win with 1 pt going to the loser. I don't get the NHL's logic where some games are handed out two points & others three.

Womens hockey has been great to watch as well.

Haven't watched much of the Olympics but caught some last nite and for whatever reason (there was no direct parallel) I was reminded of Jean Claude Killy in the downhill in 1968. At that point in my life I had never skied and never really expected to but that remains one of the most thrilling moments in my personal sports viewing history. I think the clip's on youtube and if you've never seen it you might want to check it out.

I was also reminded of why I haven't been watching. I'm sure that by all technical standards NBC does a marvelous job but I don't see why I should voluntarily watch a bunch of commercials interrupted by interviews and, oh yeah, the occasional sporting moment.

Crazy finish. You have to play to win, not play to not lose.
