That river looks like a blast. Nothing better than a swift moving stream to cool you off on a hot day.

I will be driving through West Virginia tomorrow. Dropping my son off in Charleston then onto Kentucky. Long drive.

Went for a rainy day road trip today. The picture doesn't do this little spot justice.

I'm pretty sure I've met that bridge before. Not that there's much water running underneath after the hellish summer ya'll have been having.

The water has been picking back up. The past 3 weeks have seen some pretty consistent/significant moisture. I think most of the trout streams have held up ok, but it was just awful between late June and all through July.

Its on the Upper Iowa just outside of Bluffton.

It was a beautiful sunny, warmish (25 degrees, warm for this time of year) day. A good chance to get out into the woods.

Partially frozen waterfall. The photo doesn't quite do it justice, but its about 20-30 drop from the ledge to the river. This is a great place to cool off in the summer.

Trapping season has fucking SUCKED. All I've got worth keeping is two coons and a tiny fox - I can't keep the fuckin opposums out of my sets. I'm gonna try and switch up to another area, but I believe this season will be a bust.

Gonna take up bigfoot hunting this year too. I figure I can do as well as Bobo and friends.

What state, CY? Ours in Arkansas doesn't start until April 20th. It gets later and later every year and (not so coincidenatlly) it has gotten real damn tough to work a bird in South Arkansas.

Nice buck too, DiamondDave. Here's one I killed that same Thanksgiving morning.

And another 8 pt I killed a couple of weeks before that.

Nice!

Mine was the best buck I've taken in Oklahoma.....south central OK......really good size buck for that area, as there is road hunting damn near all year. Funny thing is I almost didn't even go sit that morning. Work had been a bear the two previous days and I was just mentally exhausted. Funny how things work out.

It is funny how that works. I was going to stay home and entertain the kids while my wife cooked Thanksgiving dinner, but she talked me into getting up and going after them. I ended up shooting that buck early and making it home before anybody else was awake. I run trail cameras from August until February every year, and I pretty much know every deer on our lease. That 9 point had managed to slip through the cracks. I had never seen him or pictures of him until that day.

Do you guys process your own deer? I canned almost all of the buck I got bow hunting this year. It weighed 230lbs so I figured that would be a good way to deal with it because it probably wouldn't be the most tender. Just had a jar of it yesterday and it was delish:..

Image.

I just got a call from the taxidermist two days ago and the mount for this guy is done. This guy was 205lbs so I ground most of this guy into burger, good stuff as well for tacos and chili and meatloaf etc...:

Image

Last two years I"ve have a horshoe stuck up my ass, but after 26 years of deer hunting I have my time in.

This last year I spent end of April and most of May, a bit of September, most of October and November at the shakk in the Ocooch Mountain range in a portion of the Driftless Area. No electricity and the only running water is in the crick 30' behind the shakk. 1/4 mile from pavement. Biggest town in the county is pop. 6000 or so. . . Class act trout fishin on the Bishop Branch and good mushroom hunting.

I do have a trout on the wall that I caught out of the Bad Axe River that went 31" long, 18" girth and weight 12lbs. med light spinning rod on 6lb test.........

I'd have a hard time in 'the city'
