Anyone see the Blackhawks-Predators game 5 today? Absoultely unreal finish in regulation scoring a shorthanded goal with 13.6 to play and then Marian Hossa scoring in OT seconds after killing a 5:00 major. Incredible. :D

My dad and I went through the ceiling. Great finish and I hope this turns the Hawks momentum around.

Are you strictly NFL-CFB-MLB?

I grew up in Chicago with a strict regimen of Cubs-Bears-Bulls-Blackhawks all loved equally. I've held onto three of those. The post-Jordan Bulls years have been tough but Dwyane Wade will change that and get me back to superfan level.

Hockey IMO is the best sport to watch in person. Especially in one of the origianl six cities or in the north/northeast where you get the real taste of hockey fandom.

Nothing beats a Hawks national anthem to stand your neck hairs up. Chicago Stadium's national anthems were simply unbeatable.

I grew up a huge Blackhawk fan as well, but the years from the mid nineties to just a few years ago drove me, and nearly everyone else, away in droves. I think that's why this is so special to have watched them emerge as one of the best teams in hockey. What Jon McDonough and Rocky Wirtz have done in turning this thing around so quickly has been nothing short of remarkable. That being said, they need to win now. This year is their best chance before salary cap issues force them to lose some good players. This series has been alternately maddening and mind blowing. They seemingly drew in Nashville the one opponent in the first round that really matches up well and has the defense to stop the precision game Chicago runs so well. So now the momentum has shifted, I fully expect them to win game 6 on Monday, but f not it's back to Chi-town to get it done. I'll be watching either way! Go Hawks!

I agree with the assessment TC. The 1990's were polar opposite of the 1980's. The NHL in the 1980's was fierce and that definitely changed as the 1990's progressed. I grew up watching and going to games in the 80's with my dad and then the tables turned. For me, Da Bulls got awesome and took a lot of attention away especially after the Hawks run of early postseason exits and getting swept in '92's Finals. Roenick-Chelios and Belfour! Those names could've been linked in Blackhawks history. Now they're more like Jim Kelly-Thurman Thomas-and Andre Reed.

Gotta win now! Caps are crazy and dynasty's are hard to come by. Damn shame.

How about those Phoenix Coyotes??? Forcing a game 7 back in the Valley of The Sun on Tuesday night. Incredible. Tippet has those boys working hard..These are two of my favorite Western Clubs, great squads on both sides of the ice. One of these teams will play for the Western Finals...

Good round of battles for tomorrow night. Three teams have a shot of advancing...three teams in position to force game 7's..Best sport in the world!!

I grew up on some pretty good Flyers teams back in the 70's and 80's, but yeah, I've lost pretty much all interest in hockey. Most of it has to do with fighting. For the life of me, I can't understand how they allow/condone that in games. It's just ridiculous and it keeps me from taking the sport seriously. Now Olympic hockey is different and that I will watch.

Red Wings. A #1 vs. a #5. Likely will end up with more postseason heartbreak for Los Tiburones

If guys want some "inside info" on the next great Swede in the NHL you should keep your eyes on Oliver Ekman-Larsson. He's currently with Leksand (my favourite team) in Sweden's second division but will move directly to the NHL and Phoenix next season. He's born in 1991 and is a member of the Swedish national team (debuted a couple of days ago) and despite being so young he's pretty much the best defender on the team right now. I watched them lose 4-2 against Russia yesterday (and I'll watch the game against Finland today too) and he was the best player on the ice, scoring one goal and almost two more. Shame the forwards weren't really doing there part. Anyway, this kid is great (he's two years younger than me) and there's been some serious comparisons to Niklas Lidström (despite how idiotic those kinds of comparisons are, there's some truth here).

For some reason I thought Versus had control of the games from here on out. Good to hear Pat Foley, but the Hawks are not off to a good start here...

Good thing those old school Flyers teams were revered more for their "skills" rather than fighting. I dvr'd this and can't wait to watch it tonight or tomorrow. As someone who was born in the middle of the Bobby Orr era in Boston, I was raised on hockey.
