What do you do for a living?

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

What do you do for a living?

Post by Ty Webb »

What pays the bills?

I work for a real estate development/acquisition/management firm. We're a smaller shop in Atlanta, specializing in apartments. My main focuses are management and acquisitions. Don't know much about development.
I'm sleeping under strange, strange skies.

Love and loathing in the golf business. Instructor, event organizing, merchandising and operations basically. It's hard kissing weekends goodbye but even harder running away from a profession I love. First job was caddying at Medinah, went to college for professional golf management and that's just me. Been re-tooling my focus in the business since leaving Athens in 5/11. Website up soon w instruction tips and all sorts of goodness in August for those that golf.

I'm a graphic artist who also dabbles in photography, screen printing, broadcasting and writing but none of those things are bringing home the bacon at present so it may be time for a change of careers (again). Perhaps the saying is true that life begins at 50. At least that's what I'm going with for now...

When most people ask, I say contractor.
Truth be told, I'm a guy with a few tools, a skid loader, and quite a few nieghbors who either can't or won't do their own work :)
My wife says "Glorified Handyman", I don't really see the glorified part though...

Life's a marathon and not a sprint! I looked outside my background in mid 2011 and hated every interview I went into offering better income. Cubicles are not for me and suits suck balls. I took a step outside, looked in and am fired up for doing shit my way and not for the damn corporate owner assholes and snooty members. Golf has a pretty stuck up perception but I'm changing that shit to a new model.

Might have rambled off topic.....do what you love and think outside the box is what I'm thinking.

Hope you find what you need and want.

No, your advice is much appreciated. I loved returning to my roots in radio via the podcasts I did for K91online.com a few months ago. The problem is getting people to listen without promoting it to the point of turning potential listeners away. That, and it doesn't generate any income. Well, if I were to actually build up some sort of listenership, there would be a way of generating income but we'd also have to pay ASCAP fees (which I'm perfectly OK with as I want to be legit).

Absolutely. Or at least turn the privacy settings all the way up.

I do all the hiring of the sales reps, and after I call on a resume and do the initial phone interview, I check Facebook. Creepy ? Maybe. But it can be helpful when weeding through hundreds of resumes.

You can't get a job because of your Facebook page, but you can sure as hell lose one.
