Today I learned...

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Yeah, I know, but I'm not going to mess up any confidences I have. Sorry. He'll be back, though.

Because it's a thread about what I learned today. Actually it was last night, so I guess my post is invalid. Wasn't there just a blow up about gossiping? Sorry I posted.

about a food dish called Poutine.

Poutine ( /puːˈtiːn/; Quebec French pronunciation [put͡sɪn] ( listen)) is a Canadian dish of French fries and fresh cheese curds, covered with brown gravy or sauce. Sometimes additional ingredients are added.

Poutine is a fast food dish that originated in Quebec and can now be found across Canada. It is sold by national and international fast food chains, in small "greasy spoon" type diners (commonly known as "cantines" or "casse-croûtes" in Quebec) and pubs, as well as by roadside chip wagons (commonly known as "cabanes à patates", literally meaning "potato shacks"). International chains like McDonald's,A&W,KFC and Burger King also sell mass-produced poutine in Canada. Poutine may also contain other ingredients such as beef, pulled pork or lamb. Atypically, the dish may also include additional ingredients such as lobster meat, rabbit confit, caviar, and truffles.

Yes, you must. I used to spend a lot of time in Quebec and have had to formulate a home made equivalent.

Steak fries, beef gravy, lots 'o black pepper, cheese curds (not just cheese) - assemble on large oven safe platter of sorts and broil slightly in a rippin' hot oven.

Enjoy with at least one other person and a few of these (though I don't think you can find it in the states)

Skiing or splitting wood first seems to make it taste better.

Poutine is incredible. My mom is Canadian, and my grandparents would make it sometimes. There's a French restaurant here in Des Moines that makes it. Great stuff.

It's pretty common to go into a Canadian fast food place, and they'll just have gravy as a regular condiment. Dipping fries in mayo is pretty common there too.

I just learned it myself last nite. KOTM = King of the Mountain = being listed on the index pg as the most recent poster in every forum. And apparently the concept does come from another board so whoever said something about the THS board was presumably right (at least that's the board i assume it was).

that Suess is pronounced pronounced "Soice" or "Zoice", which rhymes with voice. I found this out because today is Dr. Suess' birthday. Apparently Michael Stipe didn't get the memo, which can be evidenced via his pronunciation of Seuss in "The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight". He knew he didn't know how to pronounce it right which is why he giggled at that line during the song. If I remember right that may have also been a first take, which is why it was left in.

Actually learned this on Wed. but haven't had time to post this since I learnt it.

Steve McQueen was such a great motorcyclist that he was outrunning the stunt drivers in "The Great Escape", so he ended up putting on a Nazi uniform and was basically chasing himself in that movie. Now that is badass.

I have no idea why Jason wasn't tweeting in February but I can only guess that Roland was referring to his arrest for public drunkenness which was reported in what is now known as the Former Band Members forum back in late January. I'm not on Twitter but I did see one of Jason's recent Facebook posts (which originate from Twitter) where he said he hasn't had a drink in a month.
