Re: 3DD NC
Was just napping on couch when I was awoken by someone pounding on our door. Open it and there’s a disheveled stranger who angrily says, “do you got a problem with me?,” to which I reply, “I don’t know who you are!”. He then says, “are you sure?” I say yeah and then he quickly turns and leaves
Guy was pretty sketchy, fidgety like he was mentally ill, high, or both. I know all of our neighbors, at the very least by face, and I’ve never seen him
Pretty unnerving, to say the least

Man I thought that was starting out along the lines of “a rabbi, a priest and a minister walk into a bar…” before it took quite the turn. Scary shit. Glad you’re ok.

Glad you're ok. Word of the day: peephole! I live in a pretty good out of the way neighborhood but I wouldn''t open my door without looking. Sad fact of big city living these days.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 12:27 amMore like a tweaker, a tweaker, & a tweaker walk into a barbeantownbubba wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 11:17 pmMan I thought that was starting out along the lines of “a rabbi, a priest and a minister walk into a bar…” before it took quite the turn. Hear ya. Our neighborhood is great but even so a lot of times I still ignore knocks at the door just because I don’t want to bother. However, the dude knocked on door the same way our UPS driver does, so I thought it was probably a delivery

General public service announcement that may or may not be relevant for your event:
For a while, I lived in a neighborhood smack dab between one of the poorest sections of Birmingham and one of the richest. Our neighborhood was the buffer, and house burglaries were common.
Folks looking to break in often ring the doorbell just to see if someone is home. They aren't looking for a fight; they just want to know the coast is clear to steal stuff. If nobody answers, they figure they're clear to go break in the back of the house. If someone comes to the door, they ask directions or ask about doing yardwork or whatever and leave. There was a lady at home one day and didn't answer the doorbell because she wasn't expecting anyone. A couple of minutes later, a dude crashed through her back door, then ran off when the lady walked into the room to see what the noise was.
After hearing about that, I always went to the door if someone knocked and peeked through the window on the side of the door. If I didn't know them, I'd just pull the shades back on the window and talk to them through that so they'd know someone was in the house.
I live in a better neighborhood now, but have kept some of the old habits I learned in Crestwood because nicer neighborhoods can also make easier targets.
Your dude could have been just some crazy wanting to make sure nobody had a problem with him, or he could have been looking for easy money to support a habit and your answering the door let him know to move on.
Let the outside air in

That makes a lot of sense schlanky. Let's see if it motivates me to modify my behavior accordingly (as opposed to mostly ignoring the doorbell).

Funny you said all that because after I had time to think on it I reached that very conclusion, that he was doing a recon mission. I am neither especially old nor at all frail, so hopefully my presence deterred himschlanky wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 8:01 pmVery nice to see you back around these parts, WWCDwhatwouldcooleydo? wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 11:40 am

I think I can post here again! The site has locked out my network for over a year, I think, based on some bullshit from a place called Spamhaus.
Now it's dark.

The term "what the actual fuck?" was invented for posts like these. I mean really: What the actual fuck?

Indeed. At first I thought it had to be parody but then a friend who knew of Richard told me that such a response is right up this asshole’s alleybeantownbubba wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 7:04 pm
