Osama Bin Laden is DEAD

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Obama pulled a lot of chains this week. I second Zips thought that our troops need to come home. Still a great thing that definitely perked me up at the end of my 76 hour week at work. On a side note, Michelle Bachman has the debt cieling AND the debt wanscoting figured out. Thanks Dciever

Unbelievable. I was wondering how long it would take for this to somehow turn into a negative. Due to the miracles of modern communication, it took minus 55 minutes. Thank you, Zip. And Sub. And the woman outside the White House carrying the Bush/Cheney sign (say WHAT?! ).

I didn't say it was negative. I'm just not buying all the over-inflated historic significance that the 24/7 news channels are selling. The guy is dead....great. But there are bigger issues to deal with

....Justice has been served...!!!!

Certainly this is symbolic to a large degree as from what I hear there were no phones/internet in the compound where he was staying so I'm not sure how much operational influence he had except through courior but still this has to be a blow for al Quaida. I also think a full on army/military presence is not the way to take the fight to this group. I think an enemy that operates in the shadows must be delt with in a similar fashion - covertly. To me, the massive military presence does more harm than good by spawning hatred in the populace for the "occupation". For example why did poor whites fight for the Confederacy during the American Civil War? Was it because they loved slavery?? No, it was an "I'm fighting b/c you're here" type thing. And I believe at this point thats most of what we're up against in Afghanistan. I don't necessarily believe there is widespread love for Al Quaida or the Taliban. So if it were me making the decisions, I think it would be best to draw down the regular military presence and redirect funds towards enhancing a residual intelligence infrastructure and carry out these very specific targeted raids against known terror cells and Taliban militias coupled with humanitarian/diplomatic/political maneuvers that emphasize the destabilizing effects brought about by the existence of such groups.

Anyway...my $.02

Half the ladies in my office don't believe this. They think it's a hoax for the purposes of propaganda. Better get the DNA evidence and gruesome pics out to the press pronto.

I believe the news 100% but I'm very surprised that no evidence has been shown.

Guess they figure if they can't believe something so simple as a birth certificate then there's no point in publishing DNA evidence.

I just saw a news report that OBL had been taken out and I thought, why would they want to kill One Belt Loop?

burial at sea is a huge red flag on my skeptic radar. peeps dancing at gound zero last night reminded me of how angry i was when i saw footage of that after sep 11. seals were shit hot to execute that mission with no casualties. you can hit us, and we may fall to our knees. but we will get up. when we do, you're gonna wonder "what were we thinking?" that is why this is more than symbolic. hopefully we can move forward with that hope and change thing.

A great day for the US military, administration, and victims of OBL's many attacks. Let's get it as stable as it can get over there, and start bringing our soldiers home and spending the money fixing things within our borders for a while.

See you later, mother fucker.

Sorry, but that's about the best way to express my feelings.

I also read earlier today that all of the military heads only wanted to bomb the compound, and Obama himself insisted upon using the Seals to make sure the job got done right. Kudos to him for that, and for having the balls to put it on the line.

And even more kudos to those fellas for actually pulling it off, and showing why the commander in chief was right. Almost unbelievable in those circumstances to do what they did with no American or civilian casulaties.

And to the chopper pilot who got them back to Afghanistan before the Pakistani jets could get to them, that could have turned into a disaster.

Zip, I agree that this isn't the end to the war on terror, but to eliminate a man responsible for murdering more than 3,000 Americans, plus who knows how many other folks, is cause for at least a smile and a celebratory beer tonight. Like TC said, it may be mostly symbolic, but don't understimate the power of that either.

OBL is dead. KSM is in Cuba. Life is a little bit better today than it was yesterday.
Just put the goddamn record on and enjoy it

Somebody emailed it to me this morning, and now it's my wallpaper. And this from a guy who hates politics and politicians. I voted for Ron Paul because I didn't like Obama or Palin, but I gained a lot more respect for Obama after watching coverage and the press conference today. He truly had the balls to get the right people in the right place to make this happen. And as SG said, to the crew of SEALs who pulled this off, all the respect in the world. I'm glad they're on our side.
