This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

At least I still have the NFL.
Nevermind.
The most interesting part of our beloved Cardinals season will be when LaRedass goes into his irrational confrontational mode in post game press conferences. That will be good stuff.
True - that will be fun. Now Holliday is out for a while too so the post game press conferences should go bad pretty soon.

nothing like a 9th inning comeback from 2 down on opening day
Unless it's an 8th inning opening day homer by Big Papi, off a lefty no less, to tie the game, followed by a total meltdown by your rising young fireballer resulting in a 4 run loss. UGH!
What used to be is gone and what ought to be ought not to be so hard
O's get to D. Price & J. Guthrie shuts down the Rays. Good start for Baltimore (in our quest to end the 13 year stretch of futility). The key will be our young pitchers & how they fare in the 74 games we have to play against the Yankees, Sox, Rays & Jays (who are always a thorn in our side). Jeremy Guthrie looked real good comin' down the stretch last year. He has never looked better than he did tonight, though. That helps when your ace actually pitches like one.

In 2010, Baltimore already had 11 losses before they won their 2nd game (and were all but eliminated from contention). Last night Chris Tillman started for an injured Brian Matusz (who went on 15 day DL). Tillman pitched 6 innings of no-hit ball. O's finally get on the board in the 8th (w/a 3 run jack by B. Roberts). Hold on to beat last years Division champs for their 2nd win (thanks to a game saving catch by N. Markakis @ the wall). Tampa still seems pretty good to me (although I don't think the Damon/Manny pickups will pay huge dividends). AL East will be a beast this year. Top prospect Zach Britton pitches for the O's today. He needs to keep the mojo going.

It's way too early for Boston to panic as you well know. Having said that I don't think the Sox are as potent as others may feel they are. Crawford is in decline & is not as valuable a free agent p/u as perceived (in fact Francona is sliding him down the batting order already). Others (Youk, Ortiz) are also in decline. Some of their pitching is suspect (in the respect that who knows if Beckett, Lackey & Dice K will bounce back). Papelbon doesn't seem lights out anymore, either. A telling sign to me is their p/u of Matt Albers. Albers is a decent pitcher who the Orioles acquired as one of the 5 players Houston gave up for Miguel Tejada. He was on the O's for 3 year w/mixed results. Baltimore let him go because they feel they upgraded their pen. Boston picked him up because they felt their bullpen needed help. For the last 10 years Baltimore would be the team picking up the contender's castoffs. It is not a good sign that Boston is resorting to this. Boston is still the team to beat in the AL East. The Yanks have the same issues Boston does (only more of them). Toronto is at least one Roy Halladay away from being a real factor. The Rays have the same 0-4 start as the Sox, but they are w/o their best player (Longoria) & the Damon/Manny combo that sparked Boston a while back seems like it is outta gas. The upstart Orioles have added some nice pieces & their young pitching does look studly, but the Oriole killer, Jon Lester; by himself will keep Baltimore from taking the division. Unfortunately, even though I think the AL East is the best division in baseball; we will beat each other up so much that the wild card will come from elsewhere. Another dire thought: Even if Boston does come back to win the division (like i fully expect them to); no team has ever gone 0-4 & won the World Series (not that it couldn't happen). Even though Boston has gotten off to a rough start, nothing will ever compare to the Orioles 1988 campaign. With 2 Hall of Famers in the lineup we stumbled to an 0-21 start (the most unbreakable record in all of sports). I went through 21 stages of denial before I accepted that we were as shitty as our record indicated. The Red Sox are at least 10 more losses from thinking in those terms.
