This phrase popped up over on another thread and it got me to thinking: Isn't that kind of redundant? I mean, aren't all chaps assless? Set me straight on this if I'm wrong.

My theory is that people just like to say "assless chaps". I know I do. See them, no. Say the words out loud, yes.

And so it is

A: Chaps are sturdy coverings for the legs consisting of leggings and a belt. They have no seat and are not joined at the crotch.

Again, to clarify, I completely favor the custom of continuing to use the phrase, redundancy be damned.

I think TC should be Thursday night's opener in Athens, billed under the name "Assless Chaps". Not necessarily wearing assless chaps, though...

Quite a few years back, I was walking down the street and this more than pleasantly plump woman was strutting her stuff down the street in the middle of the day in jeans that had the portion where the rear pockets would be. I have a picture of it somewhere...
