Re: 33 more things i love about the south
During my brief time as a displaced Midwesterner living in Durham, I grew to love the way folks framed a negative response with what at first sounded like an affirmative answer...
Waitress: ...and it comes with tea or coffee.
Me: Is it sweet tea?
Waitress: Yes it is.
Me: Do you have regular tea?
Waitress: Hon,' 'roun' here sweet tea is regular tea.
Me: Do you have non-sweet tea?
Waitress: WE SURE DON'T.
Does this strike anyone else as a bit off-kilter: We sure (Yes, of course!) don't (Ooh, sorry!).
Another one I never got:
Me: Will you be able to have this fixed by tomorrow?
Repairperson: WE MIGHT COULD.
(BUT WE SURE CAN'T BE CERTAIN.)

Shoot, hit up some small towns in the midwest, and you'll feel like you're in the south (unless it's winter, then you'll feel like you're freezing your ass off, and that's because you are).
You can hit all of those. Except maybe cow boomers, I'm not sure what those are. Perhaps I've been out of the country too long.
Oh, and creeks. We don't have creeks. We have cricks.
Just put the goddamn record on and enjoy it

when i worked the front desk at a hotel in new orleans, foreigners *(guests) would ask to drive out and see the bridge.
i would get $50 to drive people over and back in my shitty '73 chevy van
i probably made close to 20 trips that summer/fall...i was scared nearly every time. (that my van would break down)

Re: 33 more things i love about the south
So here's a question about the south that popped into my wandering mind while listening to PPOTM on the way to work this morning: Is the idiomatic expression "I am [some form of currently involved with] this guy I used to know" a peculiarly southern expression? I heard this used a lot growing up in central Florida. What about it you non-southerners?

I think we are spiraling headfirst into a full on potty mouth phase at the ol' 3DD. I mean fuck off, flying fuck, cocksuckers and that's just in the last 24 hours.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

There was a little "cunt" phase here back in the day.

Not really related but kind of: How are we all feeling about lydia loveless's husband reading all our posts about his wife?

You've just convinced me to go back and re-read that thread.
The sooner we put those assholes in the grave&piss on the dirt above it, the better off we'll be

I didn't make them, but you can blame me for both the flying fuck and cocksucker comments. I don't think I had anything to do with fuck off though.
As for Lydia's husband, if he can handle her lyrics then our dumbass posts can't be too bad.

To quote a gentleman who clearly has his priorities in order, "I don't give a flying fuck what you think." KG, I'm going try this on my wife when the appropriate occasion presents itself. She may be PM'ing you--just a heads up. I blame KG. And Clams.
