Re: Top 10 Favorite TV shows ever
Can't say I know much about TV in the past dozen years or more, but FWIW:
1 - 3. The Wire
4. The Sopranos (haven't seen alot of it, but from what I have seen, there's little question that it's top 5)
5. MASH
6. All in the Family
7. Homicide: Life on the Streets
8. The West Wing
9. Hill Street Blues
10. MadMen
I interpreted "shows" to mean "series." That leaves out one-offs like Elvis's comeback special and limited series like Ken Burns on the civil war, baseball and jazz and Band of Brothers. Not sure what to do w/ variety shows like The Ed Sullivan Show, The Carol Burnett Show, Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In and The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. And to me, late nite is yet another category and would include Johnny Carson, SNL and Jon Stewart.

Top 10 Favorite TV Events would be a good way to tackle that: Elvis' special, moon landing, making out during Dylan's "Hard Rain" special, and of course, watching Davey and Goliath before Sunday school (just for example).

Oooh, the wonder years...might have to take away one of the wire's 3 slots to make room for that one.
Scotto, i don't remember making out during Dylan's hard rain special. But i sure do remember where i was when Neil Armstrong took that first leap for mankind. What a moment that was!!!

That's funny, because I can remember vividly exactly what you were wearing.
Re: Top 10 Favorite TV shows ever
Hard to name 10 faves considering that I've been watching tv for 43 years. But here are a handful that I remember watching at various stages of my life.
Brady Bunch - Friday nights at 8:00 on NBC. My brother and I always watched
Battlestar Galactica (the original) - yes I was a and yes I watched this show every week
Cheers - Carla, Sam, Coach, Cliff and NORM!!!! and Diane was one crazy chick
Seinfeld - I still watch the reruns whenever I can (and I can't believe how "90's" it is)
Monday Night Football - I don't watch as often as I used to, but it's still fun to watch
24 - if you miss one episode you fall hopelessly behind
Three Stooges- I still watch and I still laugh out loud (Curly and Shemp only, no Joe).
MASH - esp the older ones with Frank Burns and Col. Blake
Beverly Hills 90210/Melrose Place - before we had kids, Mrs Clams and I would order pizza and drink beers and watch these every Weds nite
Letterman - still funny after all those years

Damn, I forgot Sports Night. I remember being livid when he gave up the fight to find a home for that show when there were interested parties and ABC cancelled it. That was before I discovered the West Wing, and now that I've heard about the schedule he was working and the burden of writing and producing both of those shows, I find it mind-blowing that he managed it for even a season. And you have West Wing on there twice. Now let us rank West Wing shows, in the spirit of Josh's reprimand of the Trekkie secretary chick's Star Trek fetishism.
