The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts - The camera work is shockingly bad. The film quality is just as bad. The sound quality is ok, at least by the standards of my tv. But in the end absolutely none of that matters. This is magic. This is rock n roll. This is the way it was back in the day. This is why and how Bruce Springsteen became BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN.

If I wanted to be polite I'd say Unforgiveable (on Netflix) is boring, but really it's just plain bad and way, waaaay overhyped. Not even Sandra Bullock can save this one though she tries mightily.

Going to see the new Spider Man in a theater tomorrow. Wish me luck!

And, like me, he was without it for a large part of the film! It was fun, too.

Re: Last Movie Watched
This was actually pretty good. Better than 2 & 3, not as good as 1. I was going to go see it in a theater on Xmas but with omicron rampaging around here the smarter move is to stay home & watch football. Of the big epic movies I've seen lately, I still think Dune was the best. I hear the new Spiderman is pretty good so I will see that at some point although I am generally burnt out on the super hero thing.

Ho ho ho, now I've got a machine gun!

Re: Last Movie Watched

fascinating documentary about the FBI's efforts to get the band & their fans declared a criminal gang.
Re: Last Movie Watched

Being the Ricardos - I liked this a lot, more than the mixed reviews would indicate. And I liked both Kidman and Bardem more than many reviewers too. JK Simmons continues his mid or late career blossoming. Recommended.

OTOH, I thought Power of the Dog was highly overrated. Nothing exactly wrong with it, but imho it didn't add up to much beyond the excellent performances. One does, however, have to appreciate and give thanks for any movie that is actually geared to an adult audience so I give it props for that.

Re: Last Movie Watched
I gather that The Take got lost when its subject matter (terrorism in Paris) got too close to reality (real terrorist events in France) and the movie was pulled by its distributor. It's not a classic or anything but I really enjoyed it. I could just say "Idris Elba" and leave it at that but there is more to it including excellent chemistry among the leads. I actually was hoping for a sequel by the end of the movie.
The Dig seems like another mostly under the radar movie. Totally different from The Take but similar in that it's very enjoyable for what it is w/out trying to do too much.
I'm guessing that one has to have some familiarity w/ the time and place depicted in the documentary Welcome to Kutscher's: The Last Catskills Resort in order to enjoy it but I do have that familiarity and think the movie makers really nailed their subject.

The acting was excellent in it. Interesting story although the script may have been a bit lacking.beantownbubba wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 12:05 pmBeing the Ricardos - I liked this a lot, more than the mixed reviews would indicate. Finally got around to No Time to Die. Other than wishing I had seen it in a theater, I enjoyed it. Either there was some confusion in the plot* or I'm pretty stupid (well, I guess those aren't mutually exclusive) but my lack of understanding didn't really affect my enjoyment once I just shrugged it off and went w/ it. It will be interesting to see where they take the franchise next.

Re: Last Movie Watched
can't the art director line up the names w/ the actors? it's not that hard.

They do that all the time. The actors negotiate for billing (top billed, second billed, etc.) and the art director doesn't always get the memotinnitus photography wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 11:21 amcan't the art director line up the names w/ the actors? it's not that hard.

Finished of Homecoming week in Athens, seeing Ragged Heart at Cine on the Sunday.
Shot in and around Athens with local actors, and a certain rock dude currently living in Portland, Or as one of the supporting characters.
Really enjoyed it.
