Did not meet expectations. Nevertheless, I was still entertained.

That movie has weirdly caused a LOT of closeted Michael Jackson defenders to ooze out of the woodwork

Bohemian Rhapsody - Wasn't expecting all that much, enjoyed it very much. Not sure how connected those two things are.

Us. Don't waste your dang time. I used to be a big horror fan but not so much anymore and I rarely watch any new movies. Once in a while one comes a long that I'm interested in seeing. This was more of curiosity as to whether or not there can even be such a thing as a good horror movie anymore. Maybe so but this ain't it.

The guy had some good ideas. We are our own worst enemies, the things that terrify us most are within us, there's some sociopolitical commentary going on that is certainly up for discussion. But the key to a horror movie is that you have to be able to suspend disbelief for it to work at all. And for a little while I was able to do that. But another unwritten rule of horror is, if you can't come up with a compelling, convincing, or at least defensible explanation for the origin of the villain or villains, you better lean on the supernatural and make that original in some way. None of those rules were observed here, the story has more holes in it than a siev, and that is the point where it all just falls apart. I realize there were time constraints but come on, man. Also, Jordan Peele seems to have tried to squeeze every idea he had into it instead of picking a few good ones, and he had them, with the result being the movie just kind of putters around for a while spinning it's wheels, with the solution being, "we don't know what to do so we will just try to make things real weird. That'll freak em out until it's time to wrap things up."

It's too bad because there was some real potential there. I came away thinking it's not such a great idea for a commedian to try and make horror movies.

I read the book years ago and, as is the case almost always, the book was better than the movie. I enjoyed watching though, and laughed a bit here and there, although I was never into the band or that scene. The guy playing Tommy comes across as a bit wimpy imo, compared to my impression of the real Tommy, whom I understand has a history of violence and abuse against women.

I'm not nearly as anxious to see Avengers: Endgame as I was. Why? Because I have seen the best imaginable comic book movie ever!

There is just no point in making another super-movie. This one is perfect, beginning to end. It is so good I did something I hadn't done in forty years: I watched it again the next day. Haven't done that since Star Wars. I'm going to rent it again, now that I know there's an "alternate universe" version that runs an hour longer, with everything they left on the cutting room floor. It may be better, it may be worse--actually, how can it be better?--but it will be more, and that's what I want.

IIRC, Tommy's violence and abuse against women was in the book (been forever since I read it), I hear they left that part out of the movie. Dr Dre approves

Same. Just watched it--wasn't my idea, but liked it more than I thought I would. However, as rock star movies go, it had every cliché but a plane crash.

A pale shadow of the book, though, which is a classic. Unexpectedly, I thought the guy who played Tommy Lee was excellent.
