This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Have you een following the Return on Showtime? Curious to hear your (or anyone else's) thoughts.
have only seen the first four episodes of the new Showtime stuff. Our going away for two weeks got us way behind on our DVR. So far, I am going forward cautiously. Huge fan of the original run, big Lynch fan, but so far I can't get past the feeling that he's just fucking with me. I don't need a linear narrative by any stretch but damn, so far it's impossible for me to have any grasp of what the hell is going on. A friend who is also a big fan of the original recently asked me what was going on so far in the new episodes and I told him I honestly had no fucking idea

I pretty much concur with all of that, but will add it's so good to have new Lynch I really don't care if he's fucking with me.
Now it's dark.

Evil Dead 2

So amazingly great. Full commitment to it's B-Movie-ness, over the top blood, hilarious cinematography, and Bruce Campbell's face.
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

I don't rewatch much of anything. But there's so much about this movie to love. Gotta watch it every few years.

Beth had never seen this movie and it's one of my favorites so we watched the other night. She was a bit underwhelmed until the last 15 minutes of the film when it all clicked into place for her and she dug it. As an allegory about fathers and sons and figuring what's really important and letting go of what's not I think it's wildly successful. Almost certainly my favorite Tim Burton film.

Image

For this one Beth was out for the night so I put it on as a guilty pleasure. If you enjoy such affairs I think you'll dig it. It had a good cast, it didn't take itself too seriously and the thrills were well timed. No new ground was broken in the monster movie genre but so what? I enjoyed it.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

Don Cheadle has an uncanny resemblance to Miles, but as I watched it hit me that he has an even more uncanny resemblance to Fela Kuti. Now there's a biopic that needs to get made

Somewhat disappointed by this Star Trek. Thought the first reboot movie was fantastic, the second very good, this one was so, so...

I think I’m at a point in my life where I can appreciate awful movies, because I watched this with my brother on vacation and laughed my ass off

with wife visiting her mother took time to watch a bunch of stuff that had been on DVR for ages, all things I have seen before, though it had been years since I had watched any of them

Oh dear Margot, I think we're just going to have to be secretly in love with each other and leave it at that

I ditched school (senior year HS) to see the first showing of Dune when it was released. Hadn't (still haven't) read the book but just HAD to see the movie. When I DVRed it I told myself that it couldn't be as bad as I remembered. I was right, it was even worse. Just a wretched movie

Absolutely loved it! Beautifully filmed, great tunes, amazing car chases, some good laughs, clocked in just below two hours, so little fluff, cute as fuck waitress. What more could you want?

Edgar Wright has built up a pretty impressive resume: this, Scott Pilgrim (I film I absolutely love), Shaun of the Dead. Hot Fuzz, World's End, Antman (haven't seen Tintin so no idea if that's a plus or minus)

One of my all time favorite films. I saw it in the theater when it was first out. I saw him in a play in NYC and got to meet him afterwards and he said he had had a terrible time making that movie.

Jeffery Wright? Schnabel?

Bowie was atrocious as Warhol. I am a Bowie fiend but man, he was terrible in this.

Like all movies, and the world in general, for that matter, Basquiat could have used far more Parker Posey
