Watching "One More Time with Feeling" (Nick Cave). Amazing film, not sure how Nick was able to do it. Harrowing.

Re: Last Movie Watched
Fences- Not sure how I feel about this. I remember loving the play back in the day, but I don't remember much of the specifics. The acting in the movie is as stellar as you'd expect (though I thought the character of Corey was not up to the others), but the movie as a whole didn't work that well. The first half was terrific. I think maybe Denzel's character became too 1 dimensional as the story progressed or maybe the sociological issues (read: racism) evolves from being a central mover or shaping force and becomes more of a less convincing excuse for questionable decisions. I'm not sure, just thinking out loud in the immediate aftermath of having seen it.

As a little family get-together, the kid and the kid's mom and I went to see Star Wars: Rogue One. I wasn't really quite ready for it, but I'm glad we went.

Re: Last Movie Watched
I don't claim any expertise in this sub-genre but this seems to be pretty well thought out and consistent, as in they stuck to their criteria and didn't slip into the "expensive bomb" default mode that so many of these types of lists do. I'm sure if i thought about it for 3 minutes I could come up w/ a couple of worthy additions to the list but really, why bother?

Re: Last Movie Watched
have only seen the first four episodes of the new Showtime stuff. Our going away for two weeks got us way behind on our DVR. So far, I am going forward cautiously. Huge fan of the original run, big Lynch fan, but so far I can't get past the feeling that he's just fucking with me. I don't need a linear narrative by any stretch but damn, so far it's impossible for me to have any grasp of what the hell is going on. A friend who is also a big fan of the original recently asked me what was going on so far in the new episodes and I told him I honestly had no fucking ideaFlea wrote:whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:
