This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Yes, always hard to live up to the hype.

Good, if not groundbreaking story with some really well written dialogue. But Bridges kills it.

As has been said, worth seeing if only for his performance. I enjoyed it a lot.

How often do you get to see "our music" on the big screen? The soundtrack is outstanding. It's worth seeing for that alone. Jeff Bridges is outstanding and so is Maggie Gylenhall (sp?), even if the fact that her character would actually fall for his defies reality. It's just a movie and it doesn't have to be perfect to be enjoyable. See it.

Clams, everything you say above is very true. Good points about enjoyability over perfection. Bridges performance was epic. I think I feel the same way about how it is worth seeing.
You got me to thinking about movies about great ( or in some case, at least good) music... (* I think there was thread about movies about music on ninebullets)

O Brother Where Art Thou? (2000)
Almost Famous (2000)
This is Spinal Tap (1984)
School of Rock (2003)
That Thing You Do (1996)
Cadillac Records (2008)
The Commitments (1991)
A Mighty Wind (2003)
The Blues Brothers (1980) 8-) 8-)
Walk the Line (2005)
The Last Waltz (1978)

Satisfaction (1988)
High Fidelity (2000)
Ragtime (1981)
Dreamgirls (2006)

regardless, if you like the music in these films or not, these are really good movies.

Absolutely astounding performance by Daniel Day Lewis. Not sure if I actually liked the film though.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

Pretty much the same feelings here!!! I think it is also the way it is filmed, that extreme isolation that they use as the back drop

Repo Man "Whoooooooah, ........... intense"

That one about the American Hardcore scene.

Rude Boy (terrible movie, but early Clash concert footage absolutely awesome)
I've never taken a pissbreak during a DBT show but if I had it would have been during Dancing Ricky.

Elizabethtown fits in this category too. My Morning Jacket is even in the movie.

As I do have a fondness for heavy metal, I did like it. Though jennifer aniston should not have been in the movie, she is just too soft for the film!!!

Total alsum-ness.
Imagine being Mick Jagger and watching James Brown do his "No man alive gonna make me leave this stage" routine and thinking, Shit, we have to follow that?!
(Be sure you watch the newly released Shout! Factory version and not that truncated '80s abomination with the lame between-song patter.)
