Re: Last Movie Watched
I'd heard about this for years but it wasn't until last night that I finally got around to renting it. Afterwards I read that the original version was more concise. I'm thinking I probably should have started with that one as the director's cut left me scratching my head. So much so that I had to look up the plotline online so I could figure out what I'd just seen. While I enjoy movies that reward the viewer with repeated viewings, one shouldn't have to go to so much trouble just to figure out a film. I seriously doubt I'll take the time to watch it again.

Re: Last Movie Watched
All of these emotions went through my head as I watched this. I still am not sure what I saw. Although I knew Robert Englund looked familiar, but couldn't place him until the credits. Funny seeing him w/out all his make-up.
I'm only human, though I'm super at times.

Kinda loved it. Kinda hated it.
I think Quentin Tarantino would be a better writer/director if he tried to make really good movies, rather than really good Quentin Tarantino movies.

Ah, i wondered which movie u were talking about (the image wasn't there when i first looked). I really liked this one. In some ways Tarantino is a waste of a colossal talent, but taken on his own terms, he does pretty damn well. Been thinking i need to watch pulp fiction again. I seriously doubt that at this point he can make anything other than a Tarantino movie, for better or worse.

On TV. Seemed like old times.
Never really noticed before Mary's ingenuity in hooking up a record player to a pulley to roast chickens in the fireplace. Top notch.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

The Insider. Great story, poorly told, and at great length.

SPOILER-ISH ALERT
I think they just couldn't make the payment and had to move on. I found it a little unsatisfying at first but I think I've decided that its part of the metaphor around life fading away rather than going down in a blaze of glory.
Liked it a lot. Only problem was that Hal Holbroke is a nice, gradfatherly/Mark Twainy guy in my mind. Had trouble accepting his character as a mean old bastard. Ray McKinnon plays a great scumbag.

Re: Last Movie Watched
Splice.
Probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen, made worse by the positive reviews I had read. Just laughably, awful, terrible bad right from the beginning. I picked it out and pretty much forced the girlfriend to watch it, so I tried to take it seriously, but by the middle we were both laughing our asses off. Sarah Polley is a terrible actress, and neither she nor Adrian Brody played convincing scientists. Although a lot of that had to do with the script. By the time it got to the climax, with Brody banging the test tube baby, which then changes gender and rapes Polley in the woods, we were both rolling on the floor.
I award this movie 0 stars, and may god have mercy on the souls of all involved.

That's the conclusion I came to also, at first I wondered if maybe Barry Corbin's character told the police that Lonzo set the fire and had them arrested, after Paul kinda telling Abner not to talk about the Choats in the hospital room.
Have you seen [i]Randy & The Mob[i]? It's an enjoyable little movie, Ray does a great job playing a set of twins and Walton Goggins is excellent as usual. I believe it's the last film Lisa Blount was in too..

hey NGB where the hell have you been beautiful!!! Been missing you!!!! Yes this is on my list as well. Tough for me to see a remake of almost any John Wayne movie (as you know I adore this man!!!!) but it has been teasing me to come and see. Plus I have yet to read one tiny, weeny little bad thing about it.

From what I've read it's based on the novel True Grit and is not a remake of the movie starring John Wayne. Of course the way the media likes to spin things I'm not surprised that so many are under the false impression that it's a remake.

Catching part of It's a Wonderful Life. Now I love this movie but did you ever notice that the hero, George Bailey, drives drunk and runs into a tree? That would be tough to sell in 2010, no?

I used to work for Attorney General Mike Moore. He started a tobacco control non-profit with the money from the lawsuit. We helped a lot of folks quit smoking and kept a lot of kids from starting. Then the evil governor took all our money away. Bastard. I got to meet the real-life whistle blower portrayed by Crowe. He had a reputation of being a womanizer and favoring the bottle.

The bottle part was definitely mentioned or hinted at in the movie.
