I want to watchh this, but I know I will have nightmares about McGowan's fucked-up teeth trying to bite me.
It's pretty good but very sad. I didn't know Shane was in a wheelchair now. His dentist was probably Lemming of the BDA...

Enjoyed this a lot. The actor who plays Ali nails it.
Very, very good. I thought all 4 leads were excellent.

Not bad. Doesn't take much prodding for me to watch a new Bill Murray film.

I can't decide if I really liked it or absolutely loved it, but if nothing else Richard Linklater's Boyhood is an amazing achievement. The presumed logistics involved have boggled my mind. I know I should be focusing on the movie itself, and eventually I'm sure I will but right now I'm just agog.

He is now attempting to film an adaptation of Sondheim's "Merrily We Roll Along", a musical that runs in reverse chronological order over 25 years. Yes, he's (planning to) spend 25 years filming it. Let's hope he lives long enough to complete it...

Calm with Horses

Irish gangster movie. Beautifully written and really sensitive performances. Really recommend this one. It's on Netflix (presumably worldwide).

Edit: Understand that in the states this has been released as "The Shadow of Violence".

Much better than the original cut. Still has some major issues but worth the time if you are a fan of the first 2 Godfather films.

The first statement doesn't surprise me. If nothing else the thing had nowhere to go but up. The second is the real question. I'm not sure if I can bring myself around to giving it a chance but I will have to think about it.

There's a great movie written by Harold Pinter called Betrayal that tells the story of an affair backward through time. It's just brilliant.

Yes, it is. There's also Memento.

I always thought III was underrated. It isn't 1 or II but it's still much better than the bulk of gangster movies. And it has some of the best dialogue of the trilogy.

Watched it tonight. The dude who plays Douglas was excellent. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yep. Cosmo Jarvis. Young actor you can see going on to bigger things. Glad you enjoyed it.

Just swinging by to encourage people to watch a film directed by a friend of mine, which was released today.

Death of a Ladies Man:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yzDkqiAMug

And if you like it and are looking for something else to watch, the trailers for his 2 older films are below.

Who Loves the Sun:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U__nZPHQO0w

Passenger Side:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rM-AiVu4JDg&t=1s

I love these movies, but I never know if non-Montrealers will appreciate the Montreal sensibility. To me, the meanness, drug and alcohol abuse, casual approach to adultery, Franglais and swearing are like a warm hug, full of sentimental nostalgia, but I realize that not everyone feels this way.

The soundtracks are fantastic.
His facial expression is terrifying. He's basically the equine Chucky.

And you can substitute a southern accent or cajun/creole for "franglais" too :)

One never knows when ponygirl will make a surprising but always welcome appearance :) Bonjour mon amie!

This had me belly laughing several times. It’s like Jackass with a plot. Stay through the end credits if you happen to watch.

I thought it was much better than the theatrical version. Darker.

Promising Young Woman - Over an hour after watching this, I still have no idea what I think of it. Strange yet compelling. Definitely worth seeing but less or at least different than great. Most of the performances are very good but Carrie Mulligan in the lead role is superb. In a role that calls for an excruciating, almost impossible degree of nuance and line walking she walks the line with an impossible degree of nuance, confidence and conviction.

I've finally decided to work my way through the MCU. I'm through Captain America: Civil War (which has been my favorite so far)
