Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
Caught two stops on the last tour, figuring it would be the last time to see the Stones in the states.
I'm sure I'll catch a show on this tour, using the same excuse for not missing it...
Plus, my wife joined AARP so we will have a discount code.

Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
My good friend in Austin, with whom I have seen multiple Stones shows, wants me to come back for the Houston show, probably will. Been to Levi’s Stadium once for a show and it was hands down the worst logistical concert clusterfuck I have ever experienced, and I swore I would never go back, though I would reconsider…maybe. Houston is first show & Santa Clara is last, would be awesome to do both

Well come on. I'll meet you in Houston, Floyd. I saw them at NRG Stadium in the past - its fine.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 11:49 pmMy good friend in Austin, with whom I have seen multiple Stones shows, wants me to come back for the Houston show, probably will. it’s not the stadium at Santa Clara that’s the issue, it’s the getting to/getting frompearlbeer wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 11:54 pmWell come on. I'll meet you in Houston, Floyd. Would like to hit one of these but likely that I won't be camped out for the presale. Maybe Santa Clara.

Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
Took a closer look at the tour deets: 16 dates, which hardly counts as a "tour" in these days of mega stadium tours. And those 16 dates are over 80 days! That's one show every 5 days for the non-mathematically inclined. That they can afford to tour on this schedule may be the most impressive thing about it. Sponsored by AARP indeed. But more power to 'em. There never were a lot of bands that could do what they did and have been doing for <cough, cough> years and they're still doing it. Impressive but also weird.

4 Stones Tix in Houston secured. AARP code is Flash321 if you need it. Prices are high, but not totally insane.

Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
I was on the fence for this tour but in the end said fuck all, it's the Rolling Stones. I wasn't going to travel for this tour but they're playing Seattle so I have to go. There goes the concert budget for awhile.
Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
Me too.
Last tour, I said "this is the last time I'll ever see the Stones" (at least in the States)
Who knew? But...it's the Stones. And It'll be the last time I'll ever see them. Again. Until next time.

Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
My friend in Austin reported back crazy prices for any seats that we wanted. We are picky. Not willing to fly to TX for the crappy seats available to him in presale, so we’re gonna try public onsale but with no expectations. Maybe it won’t sell out immediately and prices might drop a bit once flex pricing is over
Bottom line, at least for now, I don’t expect to be there

^^^ Assuming they are available for the Philly show, I'll be shooting for some lucky dips
I did something similar for a stones arena tour 10 years ago and wound up sitting pretty close to the stage

Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
I saw the Stones in Chicago 10+yrs ago with my wife and had cheap seats, but got to the show early and went into the pricy section to get pics and check out the stage up close. The show was approaching and the seats weren't yet taken, so we figured, the worst that could happen is we get asked to move. Turns out it was a big block of unused corporate seats. In fact, we made friends with the corporate dudes who did show up and they bought us beers all night on the company account. That is when I noticed a few grumpy teens sitting across the aisle from us, who looked like they were a bit nonplussed about being drug by their old man to see a bunch of other old men play some old songs. I saw that their dad was Bob Seager. During the encore security escorted Bob backstage and so we moved over and sat in Bob Seager's seats. Bob Seger's seats were the best Stones seats I've ever had. He had some left over popcorn, which to my wife's horror, I ate. Not because I was hungry, just to see if it tasted of old time rock and roll. I carry the mojo of Bob Seager's popcorn with me today and can play a pretty damn good Night Moves on guitar. Because of the popcorn. Always go to the show.Clams wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 8:37 amhttps://iorr.org/talk/read.php?1,3021484

Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
With an assist by Van (who knows pretty much everything there is to know about seeing the Stones), I was successful at procuring two lucky dips tickets for the Philly show. Under $100 (incl fees) total for both tickets. Now, fingers crossed that the seats work out. Thank you Dave!

Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
I was invited to a corporate box to see the Stones once. The friend/colleague who invited me couldn't go at the last minute so gave me his ticket & I invited a friend. We got their early and were the only ones there which was not surprising - not only do corporate types generally not come early, they often come late. The later it got the more surprised we got. Ultimately, nobody else came. We had the whole box, the seats in front of the box that come w/ the box and finger food for 12 or so all to ourselves. It was crazy. If I had known ahead of time I easily could have filled the box w/ friends.

Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
I was thinking that it would be cool if DBT got a few opening dates. It would be a good match.
Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
My little dad/garage band played a house party a few weeks ago, and opened for Briscoe, who is getting some good traction.
They opened up a few dates for Dave Matthews this year, who opened up for the Stones on the Bridges to Babylon tour. Now, I'm no mathematician, but by simple logic and deduction, I'm comfortable saying that I've opened for the Stones.

Re: Rolling Stones 2024 tour
The musical version of the thing Sports Illustrated used to do back in the day when there were actually some schools that didn't qualify for a bowl game: Finding the "best college football team in the country" by applying the same type of logic and deduction and coming up with some (back in those days) 1-9 D1 team, sometimes even a Div 2 school w/ a less than stellar record. Works for me.pearlbeer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 1:29 pmMy little dad/garage band played a house party a few weeks ago, and opened for Briscoe, who is getting some good traction.

Ouch. You could have just said "no" in a lot fewer words. That clams has got one tough shell.
