The full albums I’ve I’ve really enjoyed:
Isbell - Weathervanes
Natural Child - Be M’Guest
Foo Fighters - But Here We Are
Queens of the Stone Age - In Times New Roman

All of these have one major thing in common: I had assumed all of these artists were tapped out creatively, and they all really exceeded my expectations.

I’m really looking forward to the upcoming releases from Turnpike Troubadours, Margo Cilker, Joshua Ray Walker, and Joe Stamm Band

I need to spend more time with this one. Along those lines, also need to dig into the new Country Westerns, Dommengang, Rose City Band and Doug Paisley. Gave the James & the Giants record a few spins and I'm not really connecting with it.

The new ones by Jenny Lewis, Isbell, Rose City Band and Boy Genius would probably top my list.

Digging JJ's new record, time will tell if it sticks.

Also digging lots of one-offs and singles but not gonna bother to list those other than my #1 guilty pleasure of 2023:

A lot of great stuff so far this year, but the 3 that stand out to me are:

1. Wednesday
2. Jason Isbell
3. Lucero

Nothing earth shattering, just fun chunky as hell riffage. Not as dark as Like Clockwork, not as slick as Villains. Right in the Homme wheelhouse, IMO

Love the lead track, "Psychos." Gotta dig deeper with the entire album.

Check this song out, Clams. I think it's in what I perceive to be your wheelhouse:

I’ll throw in a mention of Metallica’s 72 Seasons just because it was surprisingly good compared to most of their last 30 years of music
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

The only ones I have spent any real time with so far are Isbell, Lucero, and Levi Turner's "Allergy Season." A handful I have listened to a couple times but haven't hooked me. For my personal preferences, it hasn't been anywhere close to as great of a music year as 2022 was.

Looking forward to Zach Bryan and Charles Wesley Godwin later this year, as well as hopefully Billy Strings.

I don't believe in guilty pleasures, but I am also of the opinion that this song rips. It's gotten a lot of play this year in my house as well.

This one dropped last week. Very good IMO. My cowboy music quota for 2023 is now filled! (Although my wife will probably leave me if she hears this one playing around the house - her cowboy music threshold is very low!)

Still need to pick up a physical copy of that. Much lighter and proggier than their previous records. I still dig.

Definitely. I might not have been as down on Lucero because I fucking loved Among The Ghosts, but their last one was my least favorite Lucero album by a fair margin.

I gave it a spin a few days ago. Look forward to digging in further.

Hause a Philly guy and he seems like a good dude but when he opened for DBT at his music fest in Philly a few months ago I wasn't all that impressed. At least with his live show. Seemed like he was mostly about preening to the crowd with his guitar and jumping around.

Hmm. I’ve never seen him live, but I’ve been a fan of his albums for awhile. Just always struck me as a real earnest Boss acolyte. Similar to Brian Fallon from Gaslight Anthem who I also love

New Cut Worms out today. Surprised there aren't more CW fans on 3DD. Reminds me of the the more acoustic/country side of Wilco/Tweedy.
