Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Though I'd long been a fan of many of her contemporaries I don't recall hearing Nanci Griffith until the late 80's when I was working in Country radio. The albums were Lone Star State of Mind (1987) and Little Love Affairs (1988). From the moment I first heard her voice I was captivated and have remained so ever since. For those that may be unaware, she passed away last August at the age of 68. She is one of those artists that mostly flew underneath the radar throughout her career. A few days ago she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Folk Alliance International. This segment is narrated by Rosanne Cash. Much has been written about her in the wake of her passing. Among the most well written and thoroughly researched of those articles is this one from Peter Blackstock that appeared in the Austin American-Statesman.
