that Live at Raji's was my introduction to the band. great record.
in a somewhat similar vein, Thin White Rope's The One That Got Away is killer.

It was one of my first ones as well. I got into Steve Wynn first around the time he went solo and then DS sort of backwards. He used to tour Norway quite frequently back then (still does) so was very “accessible” for an American “under-the-radar” act. I love the tight intense “club feel” of that album. I think it informed my taste in guitar driven rock music quite heavily and probably in some way how I instantly knew DBT was for me years later.tinnitus photography wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 9:00 amthat Live at Raji's was my introduction to the band. great record.

One of the better lists like this I've seen in some time.
Would add:
Bill Frisell - East/West
Lambchop - Live at XX Merge

I'm a bit surprised to see no love for Mr. Browne's "Running On Empty". Not your classic live album, but live enough and very good.

The criteria of this list pretty much excludes it. Aside from live performances there were soundcheck performance and even bits an pieces from the tour bus and hotel rooms. It’s a great record but because of all those points, and extensive studio tinkering, I’ve never considered it a proper live album. That said it’s probably a top 25 album of all time for me and I wouldn’t include live records on that type of list.Flea wrote:I'm a bit surprised to see no love for Mr. Browne's "Running On Empty". We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

The Stand in the Fire version of "Jeanie Needs a Shooter" came on my playlist during my run this morning. That version is phenomenal, way better than the studio version, which is kind of limp and bland.
Stand in the Fire is great, and truly worthy of the list.
