Erika Wennerstrom *Virtual* House Show - Friday, May 8

Post by allisonsdc »

Some friends of mine have organized a virtual house show with Erika Wennerstrom of Heartless Bastards this Friday night, May 8. They keep the number of participants pretty small, so you can interact with the artist if you wish. If you'd like to participate, they ask that you donate via VENMO or Patreon, or purchase some merch (links below). The standard donation is $20, but you can donate whatever you wish. All proceeds go directly to the artist. If you haven't had a chance to see Erika Wennerstrom perform, I hope you can join us -- she is fantastic. It should be a good time! Details below.

On a brief hiatus from Heartless Bastards, Erika Wennestrom put out an acclaimed solo record entitled Sweet Unknown. Here’s a rundown of the record from Consequence of Sound: https://consequenceofsound.net/2018/03/ ... ck-stream/. We were lucky enough to catch her a few times touring the record, including opening for Lucinda Williams and Drive By Truckers at Anthem (remember going out?). She was supposed to be winding down a run of dates with Andrew Bird. Here's a playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1aIkS ... l1ziuTkA0g.

Here’s what NPR said: “Erika Wennerstrom's voice cuts deep: It’s warm yet gritty, throaty yet sweet, gigantic yet intimate. As the singer-guitarist of the rootsy band Heartless Bastards, she's found the perfect vessel for that voice — a mix of country-rock twang, classic-rock heroics and restless ambition that's not afraid to incorporate psychedelia, indie rock and pure pop songcraft.”
I keep it all together for the sake of the kids.
