Here's a trailer for the Vinerepylenoma doc, which remains unreleased. More info here.
Vinerepylenoma is a feature length documentary currently in production which revisits the underground music scene of Los Angeles during the 1980's. The documentary primarily focuses on the music and features never before seen live concerts of bands like X, Tex & the Horseheads, Concrete Blonde, Meat Puppets, Minutemen, Beat Farmers, Fishbone, Black Flag, Violent Femmes and many more. It celebrates the raw energy of an era often forgotten and very poorly documented.
this Glen Campbell doc "I'll be me" should be required viewing. it's ABSOLUTELY devastating.

I watched the first ten minutes and had to take a break. That was a month ago. Heavy stuff.

I watched it Sunday and it was rough. I was around someone who went through the same thing as Glen and some of the similarities were eerie.
It was nice to see Jimmy Webb in Glen's life.
“What we have now is this incredible body of anthropological studies that also happens to be extremely entertaining and very funny,” says Jim Healy, who runs the University of Wisconsin’s Cinematique program, dedicated to connoisseurs of obscure movies. “If you want to see how a certain demographic looked and behaved in 1986, watch Heavy Metal Parking Lot.”

^^^Everything about this is awesome. I grew up in Virginia and attended MANY shows at the ol' Cap Center as I'm sure a bunch of posters here have as well.

saw a bunch of Dead shows there 87-91 but never any other bands. At least for GD shows the police presence was pretty intense in the lots

I had never heard of either Heavy Metal Parking Lot or Dancing Outlaw until I joined the locally based alt.country-centric Guitartown email list in 1999. I saw both movies shortly thereafter. In a sense, they were my true introduction to those sort of indie/cult type films. I still haven't seen Jesco Goes To Hollywood or The Wonderful Whites of West Virginia and in all honesty, I'm not sure I want to. On the Heavy Metal Parking Lot front, filmmaker Jeff Krulik released a new doc last year called Led Zeppelin Played Here that attempts to set the record straight about an undocumented Led Zeppelin show that supposedly took place at a youth center in Maryland in 1969. I enjoyed the film on two fronts; the attempt to solve that mystery and a look at how rock (as well as soul, punk, R&B, etc.) shows were staged and promoted prior to the days of large scale tours that took place on college campuses, coliseums, arenas and stadiums.
