Fuck the rest, just give me Guy (and Steve Young, but mostly Guy). I can dig McCauley and JTE, also a fan of Matraca Berg and BBJ, but nah. They shoulda contacted me, I think I got better ideas of who to spotlight than they do. I'm a fair-sized Deer Tick/McCauley fan, but for a contemporary Heartworn Highways? Fuck that.

Looks like the life of Alice Cooper is getting the big screen treatment. Really looking forward to this as Alice Cooper was the first band I was really into as a kid.

For anyone that may want to check out the version of the documentary that aired on the BBC that's mentioned in the article, here's the link.

It's my understanding that this will be screened during stops on Bobby Bare, Jr.'s upcoming tour in support of Undefeated (which is due out on April 15th).

3 Days With Doc originally aired on the BBC's Omnibus series just a few years ago. Arthel Lane "Doc" Watson was born on this date in 1923.

That's awesome. I'd heard it was going to be shown in Boston but didn't know other cities. I can't seem to find much information on it but look forward to seeing it.

As for Heartworn Highways revisited----McCauley and Fritz (and Joshua Black Wilkins) are some of my favorite contemp songwriters (along with BBJ). I think McCauley has unlimited potential, I'm thinking that Deer Tick won't be together much longer and wonder what else he's going to do..

On the Deer Tick tip, I caught their drummer sitting in with Robert Ellis at the Back Room in Carrboro a couple weeks ago.

BBC showing the Muscle Shoals documentary tonight at 9pm. I've watched it before but worth another look. I don't think BBC programmes are available to watch outwith the UK so most on here will be unable to watch I guess. It could be out there in Youtube land of course

It's on iTunes (though you have to pay to see it, which I'm not opposed to). When it was first released, I wanted to see it at a local theatre but I couldn't wait any longer and watched it on iTunes.

I got to see this and was pretty excited to see a lot of 3DDers making a guest appearance, as well as the DBT Richmond Halloween show. (great shot of Craig). Wish there was more back story to this, but there were some pretty hilarious moments.

Finally watched this. Loved it! I've always been fascinated by Neil Peart but this sheds a lot more light on things.

I watched it last night on demand. It was more about the dynamics of the relationship between Matt (the lead singer) and his younger brother, Tom (the filmer), than it was about the band. It had some funny moments, but, overall, it didn't live up to my expectations.

I re-watched this the other day. I'm a big Dylan fan, particularly the mid 60's through the early 70's so I just soak this stuff in. It's more of a fly on the wall flick than an actual documentary, but it does a great job of humanizing Bob. It's a little dry, so you have to be in the mood for it, but it's really interesting to have a look into what touring in the 60's was like before the lavish touring of the 70's. My only regret is that the sequel footage from the 66 tour with The Band never amounted to anything. Not THAT would be something drool worthy. I'd say that No Direction Home is a better flick, but this is good supplementary material.

I have, it took a couple of watches before I really appreciated all of the nuances of it, but it's wonderfully done.

I bought a copy of it only knowing that it was about Dylan and it really threw me for a loop the first time I watched it. It took a few watchings before I realized that these characters really represented different parts of the man's life. I find myself very drawn to the Billy the Kid character and Cate Blanchett's performance as mid-sixties pilled up Dylan.
