Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

RIP Neil Peart

Post by chuckrh »

Sad news, Neil Peart of Rush has passed away from brain cancer at age 67. Definitely part of the soundtrack of the high school years.

Was never a Rush fan but damn could this guy play! One of the best. Such a tremendous loss.

This is really sad news for me. I've been a Rush fan since the 80s. The first Rush album I heard was Moving Pictures. The first one I got when it was new was Grace Under Pressure. I didn't see Rush live until 2007 but that night sticks out as one of the most exciting in all my time attending live music. I saw them 5 times in all and always felt lucky to be in the presence of such greatness. RIP Neil Peart and thanks for everything you gave the world.

I only saw RUSH one time. It was in the 80s. It remains one of the best concerts I've seen. They blew my damn mind, particularly Peart.

A couple of brothers I ran around with in high school were both drummers, and they got me into RUSH. The older of the two would often rewind stuff in the car and say "listen to this run" or "listen to how many beats he pulls off in such a short time."

2 songs in 14 minutes, and well worth it.

That tour was my only Rush show. So damn good!

So-so audio of my first Rush Show. It was at Warnor's Theater, not Selland Arena.
By Tor & the Snow Dog starts around 10:30.
