Ric Ocasek, 1943/1944-2019

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

I sure loved those first two Cars records.

Their early 80's records were my childhood.

If one lived in the Boston area in the late 70's/early 80's, one almost couldn't help being a Cars fan and beyond that, feeling that the Cars were a part of your life. Plus Ocasek married Paulina Porizkova and they seemed to live an almost normal (i.e. non celebrity) life until their fairly recent break up, both of which are impressive. :)

RIP.

i hadn't really listened to the cars for years but have been lately. those records have held up real well, especially candy-o. the first record is pretty amazing too albeit a tad over produced (roy thomas baker influence). being a mutt lange fan i also really like heartbeat city. the thing is they still sound fresh except maybe the keyboard sounds are a little dated but that's a technology thing. the playing is superb across the board. i'm glad they made it into the hall of fame before ric passed. well deserved!
