I was sad to hear this today. I once stopped by Fame, and Jimmy Johnson gave me a tour; I thanked him and referred to him as “Mr. Johnson,” and he told me, “Mr. Johnson is my daddy!”

That list of work is astonishing. I wish I had a chance to meet him although I would have been intimidated. As many musicians I count as friends and even others that I’ve just met casually I’ve never been so nervous as when I met David Hood, despite being friends with his son and being introduced to him by Will Johnson and Shonna Tucker. The Swampers were giants. Absolute giants.
