Weirdest segue ever?

We are at the New Helvetia Brewery in Sacramento yesterday afternoon having a nice session with some really good beers. Not sure what format the music was coming from- Spotify? barkeep's iPod? some other streaming service? CDs?- but it was a pretty consistent mix of early 70s soul/R&B, classic reggae, with the occasional Van Morrison song mixed in. It all fit well together and felt like a loose theme of some kind......

Until about an hour in, at which point Stacy's Mom came on. Still, it wasn't all that weird or noteworthy, just caused me (and probably everyone else in the place) to say, "now there's one I haven't heard in ages." It ends and immediately segues right into some instantly recognizable harmonica. It was Nebraska! As if on cue, me and a woman sitting nearby simultaneously say, "HOLY SHIT!" Truly one of the weirdest and absolutely random segues I've ever encountered. If this was based on some algorithm I'm dying to know what the fuck connected these two songs

I once made a mix tape with a Charlie Rich song followed by a Tupac song.

I used to DJ a funk night for a KC new wave bar in the '80s and would throw in snippets of this just to fuck with people:

^^^ The fact that Paul's pictured smoking while driving his Segue means that he's dead.

Went to a retirement party last week at the Sierra Nevada Big Room. They had a local covers band that plays all over the place- seen them a ton of times at charity benefits, Sierra Nevada beer release parties, plus I know they play a ton of weddings and such events. They are a band of young musicians, though they've been around long enough that I'm starting to suspect they have a Menudo-like thing where they replace members as they age out. Given the events they play, they have to play all kinds of styles- Motown, classic rock, contemporary "Top 40" (does that even mean anything these days?) hits, oldies, etc.

So towards the end of their set they say they want to play a number from the retiree's favorite "band," Neil Young..... then they go straight into a long, blistering feedback-laden version of RITFW! It was stunning, the guitarist was doing Neil's Prairie lope, as Joni Mitchell calls it, and stomping around the stage like a madman. I was shocked and blown away, never imagined they'd play something like this EVER..... and then they segued straight into This is How We Do It :o :o :o

I used to make mix tapes that had very jarring song to song mixes just to annoy people if they stole my tapes.

The Dude:
Do you find them much, these, stolen cars?

Younger Cop:
Sometimes. Wouldn't hold out much hope for the tape deck though.

Older Cop:
Or the Creedence.
