RIP Jeff "Flesh Hammer"Walls

Post by Howlinwolf »

Very sad news that Jeff Walls has passed away. Former axe man from Guadalcanal Diary who recently has been with garage rockers the Woggles was waiting a double lung transplant when he left us. An amazing guitarist and person, he will be missed. Rest in peace Flesh Hammer.

From The Woggles camp:

It is with heartfelt sorrow and grief that The Woggles confirm the passing of Jeffrey Kermit Walls aka Flesh Hammer, our brother and bandmate. He left us today, Wednesday May 29, at 4:16pm EDT in the company of his close family at Duke University Hospital in Durham NC.

Thinking of Jeff Walls who passed away on this day in 2019 at the age of 62. I first heard of Guadalcanal Diary when I heard "Trail of Tears" on WRDU out of Raleigh, NC in 1985. Unfortunately, I only saw them perform live once which was a free outdoor show at Duke University in Durham in the Spring of 1989 just a week or so before R.E.M. came to the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill on the Green World Tour.
