Not sure if this is in the bivalve mollusc wheelhouse, but Fontaines D.C. is my fave of 2019 so far.

Avett Brothers announced a new record today, and the first single is awful. Talk about a band that got big and completely forgot what got them there. They are one album away from duets with Nelly or Cardi B.

Agree with both of you. I just listened through Hallelujah Anyhow first time in a while. Such a great album. I think they have been getting better and better for each new album. For sure one of my favorite bands of this decade.

Any of you guys/gals Third Man Records Vault subscribers?
I'm thinking of taking the plunge for the next package, The Go: https://vault.thirdmanstore.com/news/in ... emix-redux
Great stuff and their LPs are pricey, so 60 bucks is a good deal.
Having been burned with getting stuff I didn't really want back in my Columbia Record Club days, I'm leery of the subscription, but they've put out some nice packages.

It's been a long time since a Wilco album really stuck with me.

I enjoyed the tossed off vibe of the last couple, but after a few spins I just completely lost interest.

Pretty much same here. They still kill it live.

I liked the last two albums (though both run "short" for Wilco records).

I'm psyched to have floor seats for their theatre tour in November

Yeah, I saw them a couple years ago and it was a stellar show. They're totally worth catching live, and probably will be for a long time.

i subbed for the live Sleep set, but somehow forgot to include my address and missed their emails asking for it. i got charged for two releases (the Sleep and the most recent Raconteurs) and finally got it sorted so i got the records and canceled my sub. it is expensive, but generally the packaging is pretty top notch and they hold value if you wanna dump them down the road.

I didn't see anyone mention North Mississippi Allstars new record Up and Rolling which drops October 4. Jason Isbell plays on one track.

Ranking the year so far:
1. Tyler Childers "Country Squire"
2. Todd Snider "Cash Cabin Sessions Vol. 3"
3. The Yawpers "Human Question"
4. The Hold Steady "Thrashing Thru the Passion"
5. Flatland Cavalry "Homeland Insecurity"
6. Hayes Carll "What It Is"
7. Ian Noe "Between the Country"
8. Chris Shifflett "Hard Lessons"
9. Mike & The Moonpies "Cheap Silver & Solid Country Gold"
10. The Raconteurs "Help Me Stranger"

Haven't spent enough time with Purple Mountains or Titus Andronicus to place them fairly yet, but I liked what I heard enough to see them getting in. Could see Chris Knight and HGM cracking the line up by year end. DBT if we get it.

I like some of those but Drivin' N Cryin' "Live the Love Beautiful", Delines "The Imperial" and Craig Finn "I Need a New War" will all be pretty far up on top 10 at this point. The THS record is climbing that list as is Jenny Lewis "On the Line". Jimbo Mathus "Incerator" is right up there too. With new Will Johnson and Hiss Golden Messenger records dropping in September and North Mississippi All Stars in October, I'm not even close to making a list yet.

That Jenny Lewis is very good and an oversight. I listened to DNC once and need to give it some more time. Same with Finn solo.

Shaping up to be a good musical year.

Coming next week and sounds pretty interesting
Image
It is called Ghosteen.

It is a double album.

Part 1 comprises of eight songs.

The Spinning Song
Bright Horses
Waiting For You
Night Raid
Sun Forest
Galleon Ship
Ghosteen Speaks
Leviathan

Part 2 consists of two long songs, linked by a spoken word piece.

Ghosteen
Fireflies
Hollywood

The songs on the first album are the children.

The songs on the second album are their parents.

Ghosteen is a migrating spirit.
