The song showcases exquisite pedal steel from studio man extraordinaire and future Doobie Brother John McFee. Currently listening to the song on endless repeat and it’s taken me to Avalon, Caledonia, and the mystic all at once!!!Iowan wrote:The title track is one I'm taking to the desert island.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:Saint Dominic's Preview may not have the prestige, hype, and well-known songs of the other two, but I think it's every bit as goodworrierking wrote:Very well-written and interesting article. Just yesterday, hearing a song start in the middle of an instrumental break without context gave me a much better answer: Jungleland. It's not a rip-off, but you can hear Van all through it. At least, I can.John A Arkansawyer wrote:Which I myself wouldn't call a rip-off.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:There is a lot of Van influence on the first two albums. “Rip off” is harsh but nonetheless the influence is there, especially in the music and overall sound of the band. How in the fuck did Bruce Springsteen rip Van Morrison off?
first two albums and articles from that period and Van is mentioned quite often
There are songs written in a lot of different songwriters' styles in the Tracks collection, especially (if I remember right) disk 2.

It's very uncharacteristic of me to feel this way about a rock record in which flute figures so prominently, but I have all the time in the world for Astral Weeks. All the time in the world. To me, it's just one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful records of all time.
His facial expression is terrifying. He's basically the equine Chucky.
