Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

I thought it was common knowledge that it is "Unbaited Vicar of Scorched Earth".

i saw Mastodon cover this once... it rocked.

for a band who I only own one record of, I think I've seen Mastodon like 9 times.

Ok I listened and can now state with 97% certainty that Emerald is NOT the greatest song ever.

Except for their cover of "Whisky in the Jar" and that reference in "Let There Be Rock," Thin Lizzy's not really on my radar. Is that:
A. Heresy
B. Blasphemy

I may stand alone on this, but that's a statement I just can't get behind. Nothing against the band or that album, but greatest song ever is a bold, bold statement

hyperbole, there isnt a greatest song evet

except perhaps in the case of cowboy song, which is nestled comfortably on the shortlist for my favorite song ever

Emerald isn't the greatest song ever. It is just a kick-ass song on a fantastic album. Jailbreak isn't even my favorite Lizzy album. Johnny the Fox is. What it comes down to is I love all Lizzy albums from Nightlife right on through to Black Rose which is an absolute gem.

Comfortably nestled there for me as well

thin lizzys prime run (and id toss the debut and vagabonds in there too, though im not big on shades of a blue orphanage) is about as good as it gets. jailbreak is my favorite but its really tough to go wrong in there. hell of a band

4sooner, too.

If the convo is among music snobs Kath is really held back by his identification w/ an MOR juggernaut like Chicago which comes in for a lot of grief from the hip crowd (including me to some extent once you get past the first few albums).
