ok, this is not meant to denigrate your opinion, TC, but top 10? even 20? I love some of Zevon's songs, and maybe i am misinterpreting the "Rock era" boundaries, but i can't see this at all.

without putting too much thought into it... top 20?

He’s in. I was referring to him getting no love/respect up here in 3DD (as seen in the lists on this thread/in general)

He’d be in the next group along with Ray Davies, Nick Lowe, Pete Townshend and Paul Weller among others. All could have easily made top twenty depending on the day.

I totally support the induction of Todd Rungren, Pat Benatar, Soundgarden and especially Judas Priest but what about Warren Zevon, Little Feat, Foreigner, Blue Oyster Cult, J. Geils Band?

The harsh truth is that Whitney Houston had the right complexion, straight white teeth and could keep pitch and that's it. Never wrote a song a day in her life.

Some other worthy artists that deserve consideration: THE REPLACEMENTS! Cheap Trick, Nick Cave, Wilco, Flaming Lips. There are a lot. You can bet Whitney will get in because they want to stroke Clive Davis. It's sad. He did some good things early in his career but now I call him the man who killed R&B. Instigator of the cookie cutter pop crap.

I couldn't care less about who's in that shouldn't be. What I do care about is those whose absence makes the whole thing a mockery. Which is why it's about fucking time for Rundgren to get in. And why I'd like to write in Warren Zevon by carving his name into Jann Wenner's forehead.
The sooner we put those assholes in the grave&piss on the dirt above it, the better off we'll be

no offense to anyone, but if the HOF is gonna let in acts like Pat Benatar and Foreigner they must as well just let everyone in- .38 Special, Little River Band, April Wine, The Knack, come on down and get your participation trophies

it's like if Cooperstown was letting in "quite good but by no means great" guys like Willie Wilson, Cecil Cooper, Chris Chambliss, Dusty Baker..... though if I'm being honest it's an insult to those players to say that they are analogs of the musical acts I mentioned

that said, the rock HOF has been extremely watered-down for so long I don't even know why we are wasting one bit of energy talking about it these days. It's about as irrelevant as it gets (though the actual museum/building itself is awesome)
