Fleetwood Mac/Lindsey Buckingham/?

Post by chuckrh »

Surprising news about Lindsey Buckingham getting fired from the band. As much as I luv Lindsey's music, I'm pretty excited about Neil Finn & Mike Campbell replacing him. Neil is 1 of my all time favorite artists. Hopefully he'll get some long overdue recognition, not to mention a few dollars, out of this. & Mike Campbell is an unreal great guitar player.

This is bizarre as fuck. Lindsey is the band leader and has been for some time.
By the time you drop them I'll be gone
And you'll be right where they fall the rest of your life

I would've gone with the 'deteriorated' Peter Green but that is just me.

If only this had come down before Bill Hader was the host last month! I watched a bunch of those last night--there's always something new to notice--and I saw that on the one where the guy plays ambidextrous flute, Deondre is slapping hands with the guest. Lindsay holds his hand out, and Deondre goes right past it. What up with that?

my assumption is since the album/tour last year (solid album, btw) was fleetwood mac in all but name and the only difference now is that stevie is back in the mif, the major beef (or at least the major beef that cannot be smoothed over with dollars) is between lindsey and stevie. i wouldnt be surprised if lindsey took issue with the band scrapping album plans cuz of stevie then welcoming her back for a tour of the hits. the band choosing her over lindsey is both baffling and totally logical

its all very fleetwood mac in a nutshell

...and Mr. Danny Kirwin as well. I would mention Bob Welch, but I am not too familiar with that period having only heard a couple songs- I think Bare Trees might be one of his FM albums?

Future Games, Bare Trees, Penguin, Mystery to Me and Heroes are Hard to Find. Bare Trees is essential FM IMHO but the rest or not despite a few good songs on each record.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

Side One of Heroes is better than most other album sides in their discography.
Now it's dark.

From Neil Finn: Snow warnings for parts of the country, the mystery of Stonehenge solved and yes I’ve joined Fleetwood Mac

If they play "Oh Well," with Neil on vocals, that would make (at least) five different lead singers to have performed on the song live in Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green, Bob Welch, Lindsay, Billy Burnette and Neil).

I am not excited about Neil joining FM. I think I would be happier if John and Mick had decided they would be Neil's rhythm section for a tour of his (and Tim's) music. That I would like.

Indeed. Still wish the A's would come on home to Philly one of these days. I also would like to see Carlos Santana win a batting title, and... actually play some of his music over the PA when his at-bat is announced. ;)

I used to teach at local community college where we had a Carlos Santana in IT and a Jerry Garcia in the library

As usual, I prefer the Camper Van Beethoven cover version.
