Ha! Yes, this is what I have been thinking as I read through this.

I know he bought the gold medal winning showjumper from the London games for a cool 7 million USD and that was back in 2012. Who knows how much they've spent since then? But that horse would have been part of a string of top level showjumpers, the general upkeep, including housing, maintenance (supplements, vet, chiro, acupuncture, massage), equipment, travel, entry and coaching fees for which are so astronomical, it's actually hard for me to wrap my head around it. At even the lower levels of jumping you shouldn't jump them heavily more than twice a week because their legs can't handle it, so to be able to practice regularly and maintain and improve their skills, really good, young riders need a few horses, so they can jump a lot, which is only one of the many reasons these kids need several horses to be competitive. Everyone needs as many show miles as possible and the more horses you have, the more classes you can enter and the more miles you will gain.

I saw Jessica Springsteen and the London Olympic horse go at the Royal in 2013. They had bad luck with the footing and wiped out badly. The horse got up and kept jumping, which is one reason why he was so valuable; he knows what his job is. As much as Jessica Springsteen is probably among the most privileged kids in the world, she's a very good rider. You can see that she has done a lot of hard work and she is tough. She handled that very scary fall like a total bad ass. When a 1200 lb animal falls on someone at speed and they are lucky enough to get up and shrug it off with dignity, you have to admire them to some extent.
His facial expression is terrifying. He's basically the equine Chucky.

Surprise, surprise, the run has been extended, thru Feb 3rd. Tix for the original run apparently sold out as soon as they went on sale but if you registered before or register now (by Sept 3rd) you can try again on Sept 7th.

Me too. I was hoping to use some United Miles and Hilton points to fly the wife and I out for one of these.

Clams, if you find any good avenues for re-released tickets kindly let me know.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN RELEASES HOUSTON ‘78 TO BENEFIT MUSICARES® HURRICANE RELIEF FUND

Bruce Springsteen is releasing an entire 1978 show with the E Street Band in Houston, Texas. The release will benefit the MusiCares® Hurricane Relief Fund, which will aid those affected by the recent devastation in Texas as well as in Florida.

The Houston show originally appeared as part of the Darkness on the Edge of Town box set. It captures the final leg of the Darkness tour, including the extended intro version of “Prove It All Night,” the rarely performed “Streets of Fire,” and Darkness outtakes “Fire" and "Because the Night.” It also features prototypes of The River’s “Independence Day,” “Point Blank” and “The Ties That Bind.”

Houston was one of Bruce’s earliest springboards, which accounts for the presence here of early favorites “The Fever” and “It's Hard To Be A Saint in the City.”

Bruce, the E Street band, Sony Music and nugs.net will donate all their proceeds to the hurricane relief effort.

Houston ’78 is available now as MP3 and hi-res downloads including audiophile grade MQA, or as a 2 CD set. You can order it today at http://live.brucespringsteen.net, Bruce Springsteen’s official live recording service powered by nugs.net.

“Fans had been asking for a stand-alone audio release of Houston ‘78 since the Darkness box set came out several years ago,” says nugs.net CEO Brad Serling. “Its release-ready availability gave us the opportunity to move quickly to support people in Texas and Florida.”

^^^^ Oooops, meant to post that myself. I don't know that recording in particular, but the shows in that era were spectacular. If you don't have the Darkness box (which I don't) this is pretty much a must have.

And needless to say, no Broadway tix for me either.

I've had this particular show, and several of the live Springsteen official releases on bootlegs for years. These releases are pure sonic gold for the most part. Incredible upgrades to what's been out there in boots. I can't recommend them highly enough. I've purchased almost every single one, and haven't been disappointed yet.

I thought Nassau was a big swing and a miss. It doesn't sound much better than the bootleg. A wasted opportunity to document what may be one of the best shows the band ever played. If they could have gotten it to sound like the Tempe release, we may have one of the greatest live documents on our hands.

Agora 1978 and St. Louis 2008 weren't big upgrades over their respective bootlegs, either.

I've enjoyed the 1975, 77, 84, 87, and 96 releases.

I haven't seen the show but this is kind of how I figured it would be which is why I made only a half-hearted effort to get tix and am not really disappointed that I didn't get them.

So far no soundboards for sale, holding out hope that they do release them.

First torrents I've seen. Haven't listened to either, and from the equipment I am not overly optimistic that these are high-quality recordings (especially the 11th), but for now this is what we've got

Enjoy. I've always been a HUGE Bruce fan, but I find his solo acoustic endeavors rather boring. To me, his songs (other than the Nebraska output and a few pieces from Joad and D&D) just don't translate well without E St.

I prefer him with the band and never really got into his solo stuff too. However when I saw him solo on the Devils & Dust tour in 2005 it was a real stunner of a show, and the SOB reviews have been really good across the board. I have a feeling it'll be worth the investment.

I still can't get over how expensive his tickets are. I mean, this show simply isn't for me for many reasons but I can't help but feel a little betrayed by what he's charging. I get it's a tiny theater, etc., but the man's great great great great grandchildren are set at this point.

I bet the next time E Street comes around (if), GA's are above $200...

It's simple economics. Bruce is playing for 1000ish people per night instead of 20,000. We're lucky tickets aren't 20x what an arena show would be
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever
