Chuck made the best rock and roll ever. Everyone has been playing catch up this whole time.
I really wish I would have followed Son Volt to St. Louis tonight.

I thought this was a remarkably great article:
Chuck Berry Invented the Idea of Rock and Roll
Chuck Berry Invented the Idea of Rock and Roll
Bill Wyman wrote:He knew the blues, and he knew country, and he was there when rock started. But he also knew something that other people didn’t. The most important thing he gave us was something not musical. It was an idea.

100% material for the Mount Rushmore of American music
you can't overestimate the impact he had

Re: RIP Chuck Berry
I had the pleasure of seeing a great show in the early 80s @ the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle. It was free! Chuck had a local band called Jr Cadillac back him. They were total pros & most of them had played in the classic early 60s NW bands. They were a mainstay on the club scene for years. They knew the material inside out & Chuck seemed to enjoy himself so much that he played longer than his contracted time. A great gig. The next year Chuck came back to the festival & they had the bright idea of having Heart (without the Wilson sisters) back him up. That one didn't go so well. A few songs in, Chuck actually unplugged the bass player & kicked him off the stage. I'm glad I got to see 1 great show with Chuck. None of us would be here today in this forum without him I think. He totally changed the game as far as rock went. Elvis did his part but Chuck was an entirely different ball game. Condolences to the family. His music will outlive all of us, I think. RIP.

Re: RIP Chuck Berry
When I dreamed rock star dreams "my band" always encored w/ "Johnny B. Goode" and brought the house down every time. A true original and you just can't say that about many people.
