what bands have you only seen once...

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

I don't recall having an opportunity to see Bob but I did have a chance to see Peter Tosh when he came to Page Auditorium at Duke University in the early 80's. Unfortunately, a situation arose that prevented me from going.
Dec. 6, 1979, Hoch Auditorium at KU (Lawrence, KS). Almost didn't make it because I didn't have a car or a ride, much less tickets, but the lovely Julia Donk (real name) had a pair (Ha!), couldn't go, and GAVE them to me and my friend, John Mammen (also real name), who had just borrowed his parents' car. The rest, as they say...
Wait--so you and I and 4sooner all saw that Bob Marley show? Two of us is coincidence. Three is enemy action.

I saw Peter Tosh there almost two years to the date later. He was okay but he was no Bob Marley. The most memorable part was waking up somewhere in Missouri with police surrounding the car and a shotgun pointed in my general direction. Turned out we weren't the escaped convicts they were looking for.
The sooner we put those assholes in the grave&piss on the dirt above it, the better off we'll be

WTF? Did your babysitter take you?

It was the reunion era Dolls, circa 2006. I have however seen all of the original Dolls, minus Billy Murcia of course, play live. For the baby sitter story stay tuned to the show I almost saw thread where I will soon tell the story of how I nearly saw Queen and Thin Lizzy in 1976. I was eight at the time.

Wow--had no idea. I was in KC from 1978-2005 (with 1995-1998 off for North Carolina). Wonder how many times we may have accidentally sloshed beer on each other?

i saw 'em twice, pretty far in years apart... 1990 or so, when they toured with The Replacements and then in 2009 or so. i am kicking myself i didn't put in for press in time on the last tour, but i was recovering from hip surgery and wasn't sure i'd be up for it and by the time i made my mind up they had closed the list.
