The problem isn't the record, it's Wonderella. Trust me on this one!

Fucking outstanding! Well, Bruce & Nils anyway; the rest of the band seems uninspired. But Bruce & Nils are plenty. Thanks KG.

This is awesome. Do we know the story behind it yet? Great to see how the "upstarts" pay tribute to James

The Springsteen tribute is stunning. Clearly didn't toss this one off. That Nils Lofgren can play some guitar!

Caught this with my iPhone last night in Berkeley. Chris Stapleton covering Prince's Nothing Compares To You.

yes he does, he does serious justice to The Purple Man
and on a side note, Prince may be one of the few musicians shorter than Nils Lofgren, who is a wee bloke for sure

Is he headlining the Greek?

I wouldn't doubt it if he is. He sold out two nights at the Fillmore in denver and although I'm not sure how many people it holds, it is much bigger than the Fillmore in SF. Dude has blown up.

It's crazy! One album and BAM! Hard to get tickets. I have been poking around the Internet and his Denver shows are going for more than I want to pay. Who knows, Isbells show at the Ogden was sold out both nights and I had two tickets I couldn't give away out front. I may just head down to the Fillmore and hang out and see if I can get one for face, you never know.

The saddest thing of all is that Prince will never know how Game of Thrones ends

that is crazy. He's good but not THAT good (yet). Selling out the Greek is in the ballpark of selling out two shows at the Fox

Springsteen has put up a free download of "Purple Rain" from Brooklyn on his site. Mighty good rendition,IMHO.
That was great. The Armisen bit was funny for five minutes then we had to turn it off.
Same reaction we had. In my memory I held those Armisen bits as pretty funny but it didn't hold up when they ran a bunch of them in succession
Steve Martin as the idiot chef was priceless. Classic Steve. He does that sort of thing so well!

Not to derail the thread, but I saw Steve Martin & Martin Short (and the Steep Canyon Rangers) on Sunday and it was awesome. Just two hours of pure entertainment and laughs, well worth it if you get a chance to see them. Actually, I can bring this back around because the show was at the Fox, where Prince played his final concerts, and they raised a toast to him at the end.

short video interview in the link
Prince’s last guitar was made by Simon Farmer, AKA Gus of Gus Guitars. He hand-made the custom Purple Special nine years ago, but only got it to Prince a few weeks ago. In a photo taken five days before his death, Prince is showing Gus’s guitar off to a select audience at Paisley Park. In this exclusive video, Gus talks to us from his small studio in East Sussex

I'm going to Vegas in a few weeks to see the Cure. Thinking about going to see Purple Reign on 1 of the off nights. Normally I wouldn't go see a tribute band but given the circumstances, seems like a good move. I saw these guys on Letterman & they were pretty good. Anybody seen them live?

I like this record a lot, even though it didn't get a lot of love from the critics. But as Mel Brooks said, "After the birth of the artist came the inevitable afterbirth--the critic." Are there two more eccentric artists than Prince and Tim Burton?
