RIP Prince
TMZ is reporting that Prince has died at the age of 57. So very sad.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

I want those gossip-mongering fuckheads to be so wrong, I can taste it. Someone died at Paisley Park for sure, though. I've seen the pictures of the wagons outside.

Re: RIP Prince
looks like a legit story.
fuck.
fuck.
Re: RIP Prince
FWIW, Minneapolis news outlets have only confirmed a death at his compound. I haven't seen anything solid saying it was Prince himself.
But seriously, lock all great musicians up until 2017. Please.
If this is true, the Twin Cities are going to shut down for the rest of the week.

Re: RIP Prince
When news like this first breaks its even more difficult than ever to determine the authenticity. Everyone is more interested in breaking the news regardless of whether it's actually been confirmed or not. Per CNN, it is still a developing story. No one knows for sure at this point whether it's Prince or not.

Re: RIP Prince
And now I'm told TMZ--which I will not click to--has taken down the story and replaced it with the original "a body" story.

Something pleasant to look at when you are sick at heart. Please feel free to add things there which are useful to you in such a manner. And now, I'm going to try to refuse to think about it for a while and listen to the music.

Never was a huge fan, but I will always have a fondness for the soundtrack he contributed to my 80's childhood.

Minneapolis is pretty ripped up. I work about two blocks from the First Avenue and the memorial has already been started:

Re: RIP Prince
God damn, this one's personal
I am a huge fan of the Purple Man. Likely the best performer I ever saw and ever will see. Truly the total package. I have everything he released, except maybe the most recent one, and I know what I am gonna be listening to all day and for days to come. Will never forget watching his legendary Super Bowl experience with Bovine Knievel and others. He was something we could never comprehend
Will stop here, I don't have the words yet could keep ramblin' on and on. I'd be a liar if I said this has hit me like Jerry dying did, but damn, Prince goin' is right with George Harrison for being an epic gut punch.
Borrowing from a Gawker comment, he didn't die anyway, he just dissolved into (purple) air
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish life was never ending,
And all good things, they say, never last

Re: RIP Prince
you beat me to it, simply one of my favorite performances ever by any one. He converted a lot of non-believers that night. I have been tempted so many times to throw down for the pricery R&R HOF DVD box set just for that performance, may now have to pull the trigger. It's one for the ages, just like the Purple ManBeebs wrote:This makes me happy

Re: RIP Prince
the first real job I had (had a few under-the-table things in high school) was the summer after graduation/before heading off to college was working as an usher at the best theater in town. Once on the job one of the very first films that played was Purple Rain, and it pretty much ran all summer. Very quickly I knew when all the great songs and scenes with nudity were, so I always made a point of going in and checking on things during these scenes. Developed a huge crush on Apollonia

Re: RIP Prince
So it's pretty common knowledge that Prince was a Jehovah's Witness and was known to go door-to-door as they do. Well, for a while the Witnesses were coming to our house because I had been very friendly with them once and didn't blow them off like most do. I eventually told them that I wasn't interested but that I liked the two people that came by, I just wasn't in any way interested in what they were selling. They really appreciated the honesty and kindness, so it was all good. As they left the last time I was here, I told them that if they got Prince to come by I would listen for hours. They had a good laugh at that

Re: RIP Prince
About 7 or 8 years ago my cousin, who lives in Michigan, was visiting friends in the Minneapolis area when Prince actually came to the door as a Jehovah's Witness with two other people. She said that they let them come in and give their spiel with basically their jaws hanging open.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:So it's pretty common knowledge that Prince was a Jehovah's Witness and was known to go door-to-door as they do.
