I like this record a lot, even though it didn't get a lot of love from the critics. But as Mel Brooks said, "After the birth of the artist came the inevitable afterbirth--the critic." Are there two more eccentric artists than Prince and Tim Burton?

Eugene Chadbourne did a residency at Neptune's Parlour in Raleigh last year. He was also featured recently on WUNC's State of Things.

North Dakota man plows field in tribute to Prince

Image
Gene Hanson, a retiree who lives in Edgeley, N.D., recently created a football field-sized replica of the unpronounceable "love symbol"
used by Prince to honor the late pop star. Hanson said he taped a drawing of the symbol to the hood of his tractor and started plowing.

^^^ Very cool. Prince is going to be the new Tupac with a half dozen albums released posthumously.

The Kevin Smith / Prince thing (like a lot of stuff on that list) is...weird.

While I hope the Bob Mould project is real I think this is satire. But the Kevin Smith project is real. Smith gives a lengthy explanation when asked about it's existence as a speaker at some event.

Personally, I'm not cool with estates releasing work that artists decided to shelve. Unless he left instructions saying otherwise, he didn't wish for the work to be released at all or planned on finishing it later. And that's that.

prince had said in numerous interviews over the years that "someone" would release the stuff in his vault eventually but he probably wuldnt be around for it

and as far as im aware most of his vault projects were finished, just shelved for whatever batshit reason he had at the time

Wonder if the title is inspired by rasslin' great Nick Bockwinkle, who was an AWA legend and a Minneapolis stalwart. Mould of course has wrestling on his resume, so I could very easily see this being the case, assuming this is legit. Don't recall Mould mentioning this in his book but maybe I just forgot it. Doing an album with Prince seems pretty noteworthy no matter who you are

Deliverance Without Pizza!
Deliverance, An Unreleased Prince EP, Is Coming Out Friday

Deliverance, an EP of unreleased Prince recordings, will be released on Friday to mark the one-year anniversary of the singer and musician’s death, according to a press release from record label RMA. The recordings date from 2006–2008.
I listened to about two seconds to the track linked from this page and decided the good news had to be shared!
