Chris Robinson Brotherhood

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Chris Robinson Brotherhood

Post by 211poundsofpork »

Didn't see an existing topic, so I figured I'd start a new one.
Just learned that Mark "Muddy" Dutton has left the Chris Robinson Brotherhood as of last week's Wyoming festival show. The website says that George Reiff (I am assuming this is the guy who plays with Ray Wylie Hubbard, no?) will be temporarily filling in on bass. It shall be interesting to see who they get to permanently fill Muddy's shoes.

Yep, George Reiff plays and produces Ray Wylie Hubbard. He played in Robinson's New Earth Mud as well so that's the connection.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

Correct. I love this band, was a huge Black Crowes fan as well but really dig the sound of CRB. I was nervous when George Sluppick left the band but they have survived. Will be interesting to see this new line up come summer at High Sierra.

Massive Crowes fan here and a fan of CRB (though admittedly not as much now as I was their first year), definitely gotta say there is a finite shelf life for musicians playing with Chris Robinson.

Indeed. Steve Gorman will probably be canonized.

Curious what the reasoning of Muddy's departure was.
Not that surprising though. I love the Crowes and I love CRB, but it's no secret that he's difficult to work with.
Looking forward to the new CRB record this year.

:D Ha! agree there. Love seeing some Crowes/CRB fans on this board. Never really pushed the issue in my several years on 3DD. Will be interesting to see who replaces Muddy permanently. New album out in the summer I think.

Thanks for the aricle - I'm a HIGE fan of the brotherhood and have over 50 shows under my belt since the beginning of the band. Having George leave ( still have yet to find out why) was a big blow to the CRB as George was just fantastic on the drums. Tony fits in great, but he seems more of a rock n roll drummer to me. It will be nice to hear him on the new record in a studio enviorment.

Having Muddy leave is another bummer for me personally - Muddy would always come out with Adam and chat with us freaks who were on line waiting to get a good spot on the rail. When watching Dutton play bass, it seemed like he was not even trying and could play anything. I'm sad of his departure and now just leaves three original members.
I'm sure Chris will find someone who fits in to the Brotherhood's mindset....

The Brotherhood will roll on as they have a slate of gigs for the sping and summer lined up. I'm hoping to get to see them in the near future - Candler Park Fest in Atlanta looks to be a possiblity. The new record will be great as they have been playing a bunch of the new songs in the sets. Chris needs to take " I Ain't Hiding" (the worst BC song ever) out of the setlist. Even though Robinson gets to do a solo, he can replace the song with something from his first record - Eagles on The Highway - 40 Days - etc....

Absolutely. I have been gobbling up those 97 further shows. They also have a number of high quality soundboard and matrix shows as well. Not sure who the person is seeding them all lately but they have a nice collection. The covers discs will be fun to dive into as well.

take this for what it's worth: just heard that Rich Robinson is playing in Bad Company for the current tour. While I love Free I can't stand Bad Company, but a man's gotta work, so I guess good for Rich

"Shooting Star" is a perfect song. It and the Outfield's "Your Love" are the two classic rock radio songs that I'll never change the station on.

He also has a bunch of dates booked after the Bad Co. tour to support his new album that comes out in June. It looks like he's playing the Rams Head in Annapolis a few days after his brother.

More likely to see a "Loser leaves Town" tag team match featuring Rich Robinson and Dave Davies vs. Chris Robinson and Ray Davies

Last time I karaoke'd I sang "Rose Colored Glasses" by John Conlee, "New York New York" by Ryan Adams and "Sitting on the Dock of a Bay".

I absolutely murdered them and not in a positive way.

what a great night in Amsterdam, we were there. One of my favorite songs ever

the version several days before at Shepherds Bush was likely even better

absolutely love how Luther sounds like he's always a split second away from busting straight into

I'm gonna buy me a ticket now, as far as I can
Ain't never comin' back
Ride me a southbound or all the way to Georgia now
Till the train it run out of track

Can't you see, oh, can't you see
What that woman, lord, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, she been doin' to me, oh Lord
Son, this ain't a dream no more, it's the real thing
